Job Description:

Lead Data Scientist 
The Lead Data Scientist at DTN will spearhead multiple high-impact data science initiatives that directly drive business outcomes across industries such as energy, agriculture, and weather. You will oversee and guide teams in the development, implementation, and validation of predictive and prescriptive models, ensuring these solutions meet both business and client needs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced data science techniques while collaborating with cross-functional teams, shaping the future of DTN’s products and services. 
 

What you will be responsible for: 

  • Leading multiple data science initiatives, ensuring the successful development, implementation, and validation of predictive and prescriptive models. 

  • Applying domain expertise to create and innovate new data science studies that align with business objectives. 

  • Coordinating and managing teams of data scientists, providing guidance and leadership throughout the modeling and validation process. 

  • Collaborating with business leaders, engineering teams, and other data scientists to determine the appropriate modeling techniques and ensure solutions meet business requirements. 

  • Conducting and leading feasibility studies for data science hypotheses, driving the exploration of new analytical opportunities. 

  • Developing and presenting dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate model outputs and actionable insights to both internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Representing DTN in industry discussions, contributing to the advancement of data science practices and building external recognition for the company’s expertise. 
     

What you will bring to the role: 

  • 7+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, predictive modeling, or a related field, with proven success in leading data-driven initiatives. 

  • Expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and advanced data mining techniques. 

  • Proficiency in Python and libraries like pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, and keras. 

  • Extensive experience with data visualization tools such as matplotlib, plotly, highcharts, and interactive dashboards with dash or streamlit.  

  • Strong leadership experience managing data science teams and initiatives, with a track record of delivering high-quality results. 

  • A proven ability to drive influence and alignment across teams without direct authority. 

  • Industry recognition in data science, including publications, speaking engagements, or notable contributions to the field. 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts and present them effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $142,500 and $190,000. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
