As a member of the Operations data science team supporting our infrastructure cost efficiency team, you will use machine learning and data-driven insights to reduce cost, support infrastructure planning, and deliver delightful experiences to our customers. Your work will directly impact one of ServiceTitan’s largest expense items and help ensure uptime of the entire application. 

This is a rare opportunity to blend machine learning with strategic thinking at a fast growing firm in a way that will be visible to top executives within ServiceTitan. 

What you'll do:

  • Partner with key business stakeholders at ServiceTitan 

  • Build machine learning systems from the ground up and design scalable data science systems

  • Deliver cutting edge forecasting and optimization expertise, driving best practices across all infrastructure spending at ST

  • Transform insights gained from data into actionable business recommendations

  • Champion and execute long-term strategic projects that grow ServiceTitan’s platform in the Home Service industry 

  • Invent bold and creative solutions that aim to solve our current and future business problems

What you’ll need:

  • MS/Ph.D in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or similar quantitative discipline required 

  • 8+ years experience as a data scientist developing predictive business models with at least 5 years of experience in time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and/or optimization

  • Strong background using data science python packages like xgboost, scipy, pytorch, scikit-learn, statsmodels, skforecast, and H2O

  • Experience building and deploying resource-constrained optimization models in production

  • Strong understanding of what drives costs and optimization opportunities in cloud environments (e.g. reserved instances, compute utilization, etc.)

  • Able to combine model results (e.g. forecasts/anomaly detection) with clear business understanding to create actionable business recommendations 

  • Great communication skills including communicating complex concepts to business stakeholders 

  • A passion for discovery, problem solving and practical business outcomes in partnership with engineering leadership

Preferred experience: 

  • Experience with large language models (Claude, Llama, etc.)

  • History of contributing to open source projects

  • Peer reviewed publications in forecasting 

  • Experience with Azure 

  • Experience with bidding recommendation engines (e.g. optimizing spot pricing)

  • Deep experience with Cloud Services Providers products, services and their pricing models.

ServiceTitan is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. We thoughtfully consider a wide range of factors when determining individual compensation. The expected salary range for this role for candidates residing in the United States is between $183,400 USD - $245,400 USD. Compensation for candidates residing outside the United States will vary by location and the specific salary range will be discussed during the hiring process. Actual compensation for an individual may vary depending on skills, performance over time, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package also includes an annual bonus, equity and a holistic suite of benefits.
