At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The Launch Engineering team at Cape Canaveral is responsible for the design, construction, and activation of world-class launch sites to support Relativity’s launch operations. This team successfully designed, built, and activated Launch Complex 16 for the inaugural flight of Terran 1. With the shift to Terran R, new challenges and site upgrades have emerged to accommodate the larger vehicle, driving innovation in infrastructure and systems. The team oversees all aspects of launch site development, including civil and structural infrastructure, as well as mechanical systems essential for Terran R’s operations and launch. Working closely with teams across company sites and departments, the Launch Engineering team identifies requirements, develops design solutions, and executes engineering strategies to enable successful missions.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for both civil and structural design, engineering, drawings, design documents, and reports for our new launch and test infrastructures. You will connect with various internal technical teams to define architectural, structural, heavy civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, & industrial requirements. You will work closely with other test & launch team members including infrastructure, fluids, electrical, command & control, mechanical, and support operations during launch and test processing and operations. You will provide technical engineering support and information through the infrastructure procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance process.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or related technical discipline as well as 2+ years of experience in civil structural design experience working in the aerospace or construction industry with a mix of hands-on field experience and project management experience
  • Familiar with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) steel manual, American Concrete Institute (ACI) code 318, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7, and International Building Code (IBC)
  • Understanding of standard construction procedures, best practices, means & methods as well as experience with documentation, construction drawings, construction bid solicitation, contractor selection, construction management, field supervision, permitting, QA/QC, and Safety
