Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

As an AI Native Software Engineer II, you orchestrate a fleet of AI agents to architect, build, and deploy production-grade systems, and near-100% of your production code is agent-generated. You build complex multi-service systems, create custom coding harnesses and test frameworks, and reverse-engineer existing systems entirely through AI workflows. You are measured by the speed of deployment and the robustness of what you ship, not the volume of your commits. You think in terms of "how do these pieces fit together as a system" and blend product, design, and analytical thinking into your delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Build production-grade systems spanning multiple internal and third-party backend systems and persistence layers
  • Reverse-engineer and rebuild legacy or systems other dependencies end-to-end using coding agents
  • Create custom coding harnesses and test frameworks for structured, repeatable AI-assisted development
  • Independently conduct customer discovery and synthesize findings into product direction
  • Size opportunities using data and business context; design and execute experiments to validate assumptions
  • Guide less experienced KDEs and SDEs on effective tool usage, building patterns, and tradeoff decisions
  • Establish team standards for prompt craft, evaluation, and AI tool use

What You Bring

  • Advanced proficiency with coding agents across complex development scenarios
  • Experience architecting multi-service systems, including complex persistence, integrations, and scaling
  • Understanding of distributed systems tradeoffs and cloud-based infrastructure design
  • Proficiency in customer discovery techniques and ability to connect technical work to business outcomes
  • Competence with design thinking, analytics tools, and funnel analysis
  • Experience guiding others on AI-first development approaches
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
