About the Organization
Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We’re looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.
Redhorse transforms the way government utilizes data and technology. We are seeking a Junior Solutions Architect to support the technical design, development, and delivery of IT and cloud solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with lead architects, system engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate mission and user requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient technical architectures. This position supports federal and Department of Defense (DoD) engagements, offering an opportunity to contribute directly to modernizing critical public-sector systems using cloud-native and DevSecOps principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design & Architecture: Assist in the design and modeling of end-to-end architectures, system integration diagrams, and technical specifications for federal IT programs.
- Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with technical leads and stakeholders to decompose functional, operational, and mission requirements into structured solution designs and technical user stories.
- Artifact Development: Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system-of-systems diagrams, interface control documents, and architectural blueprints for government review.
- System Integration: Support the integration of multi-tier software applications, cloud hosting infrastructure, data engineering pipelines, and emerging artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) workflows.
- Engineering Collaboration: Partner with software development, infrastructure, and test teams to provide architectural guidance, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure compliance with design standards.
- Security & Compliance Alignment: Incorporate federal security baselines into architectural designs, supporting compliance with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), FedRAMP, and DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (IL2–IL6).
- Process Enablement: Apply cloud-native design patterns, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and Agile development methodologies to support continuous delivery.
Required Skills
- Security Clearance & Eligibility: Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. Citizenship (mandated by federal contract requirements).
- Professional Experience: 4+ years of professional technical experience in software engineering, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or solutions architecture.
- Cloud Platforms: Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, or deploying solutions within cloud computing environments (AWS preferred).
- Application Architecture: Working knowledge of microservices architectures, full-stack design patterns, and API integration standards (REST, GraphQL).
- Infrastructure Automation & Containers: Practical experience using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- DevSecOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with automated CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and integrated security scanning practices.
- Communication & Documentation: Demonstrated ability to create clear technical documentation and communicate complex technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Skills
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (or equivalent industry certification from Azure or GCP).
- Prior experience delivering technical solutions within federal government or DoD contract environments.
- Experience utilizing collaboration and data platforms such as GitLab, Jira, and Databricks.
- Exposure to modern data architectures (e.g., data lakes, distributed data processing, ETL/ELT pipelines, Apache Spark).
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration concepts (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation [RAG], LLM APIs, MLOps workflows).
- Experience operating within Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
