Division StoryProduction Operations and Engineering consists of a wide range of media centric roles. We are responsible for managing the entire life cycle of A+E’s programming. Job Description

THE ROLE: Junior Graphic Designer - Project Based

3PPW-Project based 1000-hour freelance, per year.  non-exempt, remote

Schedule: M – F, 8.30 - 5P or 10 – 6.30P Eastern Time

We're looking for a talented junior freelance graphic designer to create high-impact thumbnail designs for our Digital team. This project-based role begins with an anticipated 3- month engagement, with the potential to extend to an 18-month contract. You'll be designing engaging YouTube thumbnails, providing two unique versions per video for A/B testing. We need someone with a strong design aesthetic, a knack for visual storytelling, and the ability to swiftly incorporate feedback and adapt to shifting creative needs. While this is a junior-level role, we value designers who bring ideas to the table, take feedback well, and thrive in a fast-paced content environment. Reports to the Manager of Motion Graphics Operations.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Thumbnail Editor to support our digital video efforts with eye-catching, platform- optimized creative and testing opportunities.

  • Design and edit high-impact thumbnails tailored for YouTube and other social platforms.

  • Interpret performance data and A/B testing results to evolve creative approach.

  • Manage quick turnarounds for time-sensitive content, while maintaining quality and innovation.

  • Collaborate with producers and content editors to align thumbnail concepts thatsupport each video’s tone, theme, and audience strategy.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members—accepting feedback, sharing progress, and articulating design choices when needed.

  • Maintain consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail across all designs, ensuring proper file organization and naming conventions.

  • Stay up to date on YouTube and other social media design trends and best practices to create thumbnails that drive clicks and viewer engagement.

  • Show adaptability by responding to creative direction shifts and evolving priorities without compromising quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 to 2 years of design experience, ideally in a fast-paced content or social media environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong visual eye with a good grasp of layout, color, composition, and typography.
  • Comfortable working independently, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Organized file handling and attention to detail across multiple versions and design rounds.
  • Familiarity with YouTube trends and thumbnail performance tactics is a plus.
  • Interest in emerging tools and AI-based design workflows is a bonus.

Please note project assignment associates are engaged to provide service to A+E Global Media on a temporary basis in connection with a specific project. Project assignment associates are hired and employed through a third-party vendor.

CompensationContract Hourly Pay Rate: $40.00
