About Concairge

Concairge is an AI-native startup building a mobile family assistant experience for iOS and Android. We’re a small, fast-moving team — the kind of environment where the work you ship this week is in users’ hands next week, and the engineer next to you (well, on the other end of Slack) is the same person whose code you’re reviewing.

Our stack is .NET end-to-end: a .NET MAUI mobile app and a C# / .NET backend with background workers, webhook integrations, and a growing surface of AI-powered features. We’re approaching our full iOS launch, and we need more hands.

The role

You’ll work alongside our senior frontend and backend developers, picking up well-scoped tasks across both codebases so they can focus on the harder architectural work.

This is a part-time, fractional contract role, ideal for someone who is early in their career and wants real production experience on a live app with real users. You won’t be writing throwaway code or pushing pixels — you’ll be shipping to App Store and Play Store users, fixing real bugs reported by real customers, and building features that show up in our release notes.

You’ll be guided closely. Our senior engineers will give you scoped tickets, review your PRs, and pair with you on tricky pieces. This is a learning role with a real codebase, not a learning role with toy problems.

What you’ll actually do

•       Pick up small-to-medium bug fixes across the mobile app (.NET MAUI) and the backend (.NET)

•       Implement well-scoped features — UI screens, API endpoints, background job tweaks — to specifications written by senior engineers or our founder

•       Help with the unglamorous-but-important work: logging improvements, error handling, instrumentation, test coverage, documentation

•       Triage incoming user-reported issues, reproduce them, and either fix them or write up clear repro steps for the senior engineers

•       Participate in code reviews — both receiving them (a lot, at first) and eventually giving them

Who we’re looking for

Required

•       Working knowledge of C# and the .NET ecosystem (school projects, internships, bootcamp work, side projects — all count)

•       Comfort with Git and a standard PR-based workflow

•       Genuine curiosity and willingness to learn — you’ll be using tools and patterns you haven’t seen before, and you need to enjoy that

•       Clear written communication — most of our collaboration is async over Slack and GitHub

•       Self-direction within scope: when given a ticket, you can break it down, ask the right questions early, and ship without needing constant check-ins

Nice to have (not required)

•       Any hands-on experience with .NET MAUI, Xamarin, or other cross-platform mobile frameworks

•       Familiarity with mobile app concepts: app lifecycle, push notifications, App Store / Play Store release flows

•       Exposure to Datadog, UXCam, or any observability/analytics tooling

•       Experience with AI-powered features — calling LLM APIs, prompt engineering, working with structured outputs

•       A side project or two we can look at — we care more about what you’ve built than where you studied

What you’ll get

•       Real production experience on a live app, with code review from senior engineers

•       A flexible, fully remote, async-friendly working pattern — you set your own hours within UK-friendly overlap

•       Direct exposure to a startup at a meaningful stage (post-product, pre-scale) and the chance to grow with us as we do

•       Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience

•       Mentorship that’s hard to find in a graduate scheme: you’ll be one of a handful of engineers, not one of fifty

How to apply

Send us:

1.     A short note (a paragraph is fine) telling us why this role sounds interesting to you

2.     A link to your GitHub, a portfolio, or any code you’re willing to share

3.     A rough sense of your weekly availability and earliest start date

Email: [[email protected]]  (update with correct address)

We read every application. We aim to respond within a week.

Concairge is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on the basis of skill, curiosity, and fit — nothing else.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
