Job Description

At the very core:

We are seeking a Junior Corporate Counsel to join our in-house legal team and support a wide range of legal and business needs across our growing fintech and software-focused organization. This role will report to our Associate Counsel and is a great opportunity for a motivated early-career attorney to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, private equity-backed company.

You will work under the guidance of our Associate Counsel and General Counsel, supporting day-to-day legal operations, reviewing and drafting contracts, assisting with compliance matters, and helping identify legal risks across the business. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to grow their legal career in a collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including software license agreements, master services agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and other agreements related to the fintech, fitness, and software industry
  • Work closely with business teams to identify legal risks and provide proactive legal advice and support in relation to internal and external matters, contract interpretation and dispute questions, interpreting and applying law and policies, and other areas to support the business
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as needed to support the business and legal team
  • Provide legal advice and support on regulatory compliance matters, including data privacy, consumer protection, and other legal and regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to the General Counsel on Company personnel matters, to include employee grievance and claims, as assigned and confer with the General Counsel on a variety of legal matters
  • Support the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures
  • Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters, as needed.
  • Provide billing and collection support to ABC and its departments, including collecting past due amounts from clients
  • Assist with responses to legal inquiries and requests
  • Assist with corporate governance and licensing work, filings, and documentation
  • Provide support on other legal matters as needed
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree and Law degree from an accredited law school, and licensed in at least one US State.
  • 1–2 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house, in government, or at a law firm. Prior in-house or industry-specific experience is a plus but not required.
  • Foundational experience in reviewing and drafting contracts.
  • Basic understanding of legal and regulatory concepts related to commercial transactions, privacy, or employment law is helpful.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience and/or interest in Fintech, payments, SaaS products, collections, health & fitness industry preferred, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer with intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Interest in working on a wide variety of legal issues, especially in fintech, SaaS, and private equity environments
  • Curiosity about new industries, willingness to build industry knowledge over time, and eagerness to learn about the business, its products and industry
  • Above average analytical ability as the position requires exceptional ability to read and comprehend complex written material including legal terms and provisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and customer service skills, and ability to explain complex concepts or terms in understandable layman’s terms
  • Ability to understand legal terminology, contracting principles, and the payments industry
  • Ability to review, draft, and negotiate contracts at a fast pace with accuracy
  • Experience in working with clients in multiple countries (US, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, UK, Spain, Australia)

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only and based on employees in the United States and may be different in other countries. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for U.S. based candidates for this position is $87,000.00 -- $91,000.00 USD annually. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions.
