Job Description

About the role

The IT Technical Specialist III (SAP Basis) is a technical role with global responsibilities for the availability, performance and maintenance of mission critical applications. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with Infrastructure, Security and Applications teams to proactively ensure applications are sized appropriately, secure and in a supported state according regular maintenance cycles. 

The IT Technical Specialist III role is to maintain overall application performance and system stability while supporting business initiatives for Application Lifecycle Management such as installations and patching, refreshes and landscape configuration. 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Leads SAP Basis technical application upgrades to qualifying environment  
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for SAP Basis architecture, security and support processes     
  • Accountable for system support of deployment activities according to project timelines 
  • Identification and promotion of software and processes in alignment with Amcor needs 
  • Change agent for processes in support of maximum planned application availability 
  • Provide input to annual support budget  
  • Support IT goals and objectives 
  • Recommends and develops support processes that utilize standard Amcor applications for proactive application monitoring 
  • Drive awareness of deployed application roadmaps in coordination with Global Application teams 
  • Ensure Change Control processes are followed 
  • Manage complex troubleshooting and the use of root cause analysis for continuous improvement 
  • Develop strategic technology opportunities that enhance the Amcor user experience through higher efficiency, availability or usability 
  • (Release) Responsible for Data Archiving execution 
  • Provide Architecture strategy (On-Premise/Cloud, OS, Database) according to Amcor objectives and Financial Analysis 
  • Design and publish monthly Metrics dashboard. Provide results and any corrective action plans to IT Leadership 
  • Mentor as a senior technical resource for IT Technical Specialist I while training teammates 
  • (SAP Basis / DBA) Design and test Disaster Recovery processes according to IT objectives 
  • Perform assurance audits across production sites, focusing on operational, financial, and compliance risks
  • Conduct process audits to evaluate efficiency, effectiveness, and internal controls
  • Participate in and lead “Premium Projects” at site, Business Unit, Business Group, or Corporate level
  • Identify improvement opportunities and provide practical, value-added recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple countries and cultures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies and tools

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience in a large installation  
  • Advanced problem solving 
  • Process improvement experience  
  • Superior communications skills - both oral and written - to successfully interact with project teams from various departments/business units 
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or equivalent work experience           
  • Related Certifications preferred 
  • Experience supporting systems within a manufacturing environment is a plus 
  • (SAP BASIS) 10+ years of experience in SAP BASIS administration in a 24/7 environment 
  • 10+ years of work experience in IT, including software development (SDLC) & Project Management experience

CompensationThe starting salary for this position is expected to be between $98 000 to $122 500; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $98 000 to $147 000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits. The salary range provided reflects the anticipated base pay for this role at the time of this posting. This range is applicable to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
