Job Description

We are looking for an IT Release Manager to join our growing team! In this role, your primary responsibility is to work alongside various development and operations teams to guarantee the scheduling of releases. Focus is placed on ensuring the smooth flow of changes through various pre-production environments, culminating in a successful deployment to production.

As an IT Release Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of Brightspeed's IT release cycles, ensuring smooth deployments and integrations
  • Oversee the end-to-end release process, including planning, scheduling, coordinating, and deploying software releases while minimizing disruptions to production environments
  • Manage interdependencies to ensure the integrity of the delivery and release
  • Ensure deployments are promoted and test activities occur within development environments in accordance with the Release Schedule and established framework
  • Create release guidelines to distribute across the company
  • Work with Engineering/Architects to assess release milestones and adapt/grow them as required
  • Work with Engineering & Project Management (PM) to define deployment plan interdependencies
  • Work with PMO, engineering, and QA to define upcoming environment requirements and specifications
  • Define and enforce entry criteria for Production
  • Creates full visibility into release readiness, Go/No-Go, and milestone reviews
  • Collaborate with delivery/release managers from different business units
  • Establish and maintain documents related to procedures on build and release
  • Develop and maintain a release management plan and calendar that aligns with business goals.
  • Monitor, measure, and manage the deployment process, including sandbox management, QA, DEV, and production releases
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with Brightspeed's IT releases
  • Provide status updates and communicate release plans to stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues and conflicts that arise during release and deployment processes

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in release management, preferably in a software development or IT operations environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven experience in liaising with offshore teams and managing distributed release processes.
  • Strong understanding of release management best practices, tools, and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps
  • Experience applying project management knowledge and techniques to achieve objectives
  • Understanding version control systems, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and automation tools
  • Experience with cloud environments
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure and system architecture best practices and principles
  • Agile Coaching or training experience
  • Experience using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure
  • Experience in developing documentation, run books, user guides, and training materials
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement changes to enhance overall efficiency and productivity

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Experience managing work with Jira products in the context of software development and reporting across multiple teams
  • IT Telecommunications experience
  • Ability to create executive level dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power applications and BI
