Do you want to be a part of the clean energy movement? Are you passionate about improving our environment for this generation and those to follow? Are you ready to take on new challenges and collaborate with a future-focused team leading the way into new markets? Join Nexamp!

This is where you can learn from industry leaders and become one yourself. It's fast-paced, mission-based work that challenges the status quo. Be on the team that's changing the world.

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for an IT Network & Infrastructure Architect to help build and evolve a secure, highly available network‑to‑compute foundation that powers Nexamp’s corporate and operational technology. In this senior individual contributor role, you will own end‑to‑end architecture and hands‑on delivery, while guiding application teams that retain day‑to‑day ownership and documenting best practices that enable 24×7 operations and future growth. This role will be based out of our Lawrence or Boston office, where you will work hybrid and report to the Director, IT.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain all enterprise network, server, and storage platforms across HQ, satellite offices, and Azure.
  • Administer multi-node Hyper‑V cluster and associated Dell Unity SAN; own patching, lifecycle, and capacity planning.
  • Engineer and optimize WAN / LAN architecture (BGP, OSPF, VPN, QoS) on Palo Alto, Cisco, and Extreme hardware; drive segmentation and zero‑trust principles.
  • Lead Azure Networking: create and secure Virtual Networks (VNets), Virtual Hubs (VHubs), Azure Firewall, route tables, ExpressRoute/BGP peering.
  • Enable and govern Azure IaC best‑practices for Dev/Engineering teams (templates, policies, automation); workloads remain owned by those teams.
  • Develop and tune monitoring & observability (Azure Monitor, OpManager, or similar) with alerting that empowers 24×7 OT operators.
  • Produce authoritative diagrams, SOPs, and knowledge articles so IT/OT staff and Support can resolve issues without escalation.
  • Partner with OT engineers to align field‑network designs with enterprise standards; provide architectural guidance.
  • Assist the Security team in selecting and implementing network security controls (NGFW policies, NSGs, IPS, etc.).
  • Champion change & configuration management, documenting RFCs and leading infrastructure CAB reviews.
  • Serve as Tier 3/4 escalation for complex incidents—no formal on-call rotation.

What you’ll bring:

  • BS in IT or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Azure Network Engineer (AZ‑700), Palo Alto Networks PCNSE (or successor NGFW Engineer credential), or similar advanced vendor certification.
  • 6+ years in comparable role(s).
  • Proven experience with Palo Alto NGFWs and multi-site networks.
  • Proven experience in cloud-based networking, especially Azure.
  • Must be able to work on U.S. critical‑infrastructure networks.
  • Experience with or exposure to NERC CIP or other highly compliance driven environments is a plus.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please apply.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
