A Day in the LifeThis is an IT management role with shared ownership of business strategy and a focus on delivering functional value to enhance organizational performance. The role is accountable for the successful implementation of key strategic programs, as well as for managing the day-to-day IT operations at Danvers and Billerica sites in Massachusetts. There is no relocation assistance available for this position.
The IT Manager will drive operational excellence, optimize business performance, and maximize the use of existing IT solutions. The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Billerica, Massachusetts
Serving as the single point of contact for multi-site and plant leaders, the IT Manager will help unlock business value through IT capabilities and assets. The role also coordinates with IT COEs, managed services, Global IT functions, business partners, and external vendors to support and manage the technical needs of the platform.
The ideal candidate needs to be a collaborative leader who can effectively engage and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization

A Day in the Life

  • Lead daily IT operations and participate in Tier meetings to align with site priorities.

  • Manage business and IT escalations, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication.

  • Oversee site-specific operational demands and drive delivery of KPIs.

  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of IT projects and strategic programs with first-time quality.

  • Support critical manufacturing applications in collaboration with Apps COE’s (ERP, MES, Labeling, shop floor systems).

  • Champion and support operational excellence efforts (Gemba, Kaizen, problem-solving).

  • Translate global IT strategy into local execution plans aligned with site goals.

  • Manage IT vendors, contracts, SOWs, and POs to ensure service quality and compliance as needed.

  • Build and lead a high-performing, diverse IT team with clear goals and strong coaching.

  • Drive continuous improvement through standardized processes, KPIs, and the MPS framework.

  • Maintain system health, infrastructure stability, and quality of IT services.

  • Support the execution of the multi-year IT capability roadmaps.

  • Leads change management initiatives aligning local execution with global IT strategy.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

  • Provides leadership for those involved in the development, design and optimization of one or more information technology and systems functions supporting company business processes and technical information systems platforms.

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis, selection and modification of enterprise systems, application software, installation of network hardware/software and database management.

  • Provides direction for the effort required to protect the company's data, tools and information systems.

  • Ensures infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility.

  • Usually requires subject matter knowledge of user group for practical application of system characteristics.

  • Coordinates delivery of services to user groups and ensures IT service is uninterrupted.

  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area.
Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with manufacturing applications (MES, ERP, Labeling, Quality, Maintenance.) 

  • Background in regulated environments (e.g., FDA, GMP, ISO)

  • Financial acumen, including IT budget oversight

  • Proven leadership of strategic IT projects and cross-functional initiative

  • Strong people management and team leadership skills

  • Ability to lead cross-functional and on-site teams with a focus on growth and engagement

  • Strong skills in project planning, portfolio, and resource management

  • Hands-on incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) execution

  • Experience in IT business continuity and disaster recovery within mfg environment . Ability to manage vendors and service providers

  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices

  • Strong communication skills in multicultural, global environments

  • Experience with Agile or hybrid project delivery model

  • Proficiency in analytics tools such as Power BI or similar

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$132,800.00 - $199,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
