Position Overview:

As Intellectual Property Paralegal, you will join the team of attorneys and specialists focused on protecting Autodesk’s intellectual property assets to enable Autodesk’s success.  Collaborating closely with your colleagues in the IP team, the broader Autodesk Legal Department and other Autodesk business teams, you will provide key administrative support for Autodesk’s trademark, copyright and intellectual property programs.

This position will report to the Sr Director, Sr IP Counsel and is a hybrid position, based out of Portland, Denver, or Boston .

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Autodesk IP team to execute on Autodesk’s intellectual property strategy.
  • Collaborate with Autodesk legal and business teams in product, marketing, sales, operations, and security to collect information and materials in support of Autodesk’s trademark and copyright programs.
  • Establish and maintain internal practices and procedures for trademark- and copyright-related information, filings, and deadlines.
  • Work closely with outside trademark and copyright counsel to manage deadlines and facilitate filing of documents and materials in support of Autodesk’s trademark and copyright programs.
  • Proactively partner with the Autodesk Legal Operations team and other members of the Autodesk Legal team to learn and share best practices for information sharing, knowledge-management and collaboration tools. 
  • Provide general administrative support for Autodesk’s trademark and copyright programs and for internal training programs to build awareness of the importance of intellectual property and to drive best practices to both leverage and protect those assets.
  • Exercise excellent judgment and extraordinary organizational and communication skills to grow and protect Autodesk’s trademark and copyright programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4+ years experience as a Paralegal or Legal Administrative professional in the area of Intellectual Property (IP) law (with at least 2 years at a law firm).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • You are detail-oriented, don’t lose your focus, and handle deadline pressures with aplomb.
  • You are tech-savvy, with the desire and ability to master databases, collaboration tools and knowledge-management tools.
  • You take initiative to improve work processes and simplify tasks – you enjoy making things efficient and streamlined.
  • You are intellectually curious and love learning something new every day.
  • You approach challenges with energy and a positive attitude.
  • You are comfortable interacting warmly and professionally with everyone from the senior executives to interns -- you recognize that you don’t know everything and can learn from anyone.

Qualifications That Can Set You Apart:

  • Prior in-house experience supporting trademark or copyright programs as a paralegal or administrative specialist.
  • Paralegal certification.
  • Experience using SmartSheet and Microsoft Teams.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $80,600 and $139,150. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
