About the Department
Our Boston Research & Development hub, anchored in the greater Boston area, brings together the best minds in life science innovation. The teams located in facilities in Lexington, Watertown and Cambridge reflect the full R&D continuum, from early research through late-stage clinical development. Here, we are building for the future, creating a distinct R&D community based on collaboration, partnerships, and cutting-edge research across multiple modalities and therapeutic areas. We recognize that improving human health starts here and that patients rely on us. Our greater Boston R&D hub merges biotech speed and agility with large pharmaceutical company quality, resources, and stability, uniting the best of both worlds to develop new medicines for patients.
The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten working weeks, in-terns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship pro-gram also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.
Program Start: June 2nd, 2025
Program End: August 15th, 2025
Scope of Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven intern to join the RNAi Pharmacology team to help develop siRNA therapeutic strategies for the central nervous system. This individual will investigate cell type specificity of the Global Nucleic Acid Therapies TRU RNAi platforms in the central nervous system.
The candidate will focus on evaluating cell type specificity of novel siRNA platforms. Under guided supervision, the intern will be responsible for identifying these cell types using established model systems, including: in vitro assays, fixed tissue histology, and flow cytometry.
The main responsibilities of the role include performing lab assays according to SOPs and troubleshooting assays with guided assistance. In collaboration with lab mentors, the intern will generate, analyze, and interpret data. An ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific data both in writing and in oral presentations will be a key aspect of this role.
The ideal candidate will have an interest and an understanding of central nervous system anatomy and physiology. Prior wet lab experience is required, ideally with sterile cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques (i.e. qPCR, Western blotting), and tissue processing (i.e. mRNA extraction, protein lysate generation). Prior experience with histology techniques is de-sired, but not required.
