Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented mechanical engineer intern to help us in our mission by contributing to the development, justification and validation of our vehicle. As a mechanical engineer intern, you will be in charge of improving our methodologies and tools for the thermo-mechanical justification of bolted junctions. You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report to the Structural Analysis Principal Engineer.

Key responsibilities

In your capacity as a mechanical engineer intern, your role will include:

  • To work on the methodology for the mechanical justification of junctions in line with the standards applicable for space application,

  • To implement the methodology in our internal tools (Python script),

  • To create and run local models of junctions,

  • To analyze and evaluate the accuracy and reliability of the results,

  • To contribute to the creation and improvement of mechanical analysis tools ,

  • To effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data,

  • To write technical documentation and participate to reviews.

What we would love to see from you

  • Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering,

  • Experience with Finite Element Models simulations,

  • Experience with programming (Python, Matlab...),

  • Fluent in English,

  • Ability to work equally well unsupervised or as part of a team,

  • Strong organizing and prioritization of tasks,

  • Positive and flexible attitude to get the job done,

  • Ability to communicate at all levels,
