CampusWorks is seeking an Infrastructure Administrator to deliver network and systems solutions for higher education client institutions. The Infrastructure Administrator collaborates with engineers to maintain infrastructure components, troubleshoot system and network issues, and provide essential technical support. Responsibilities

  • Administer mission-critical Windows-based servers in virtual and Azure environments.
  • Conduct basic server maintenance and updates for Windows and Linux environments, supporting virtualized and on-premise systems under senior engineer guidance.
  • Participate in setting up and maintaining user access and permissions to ensure secure and organized data access for managed services clients.
  • Monitor systems using tools such as ConnectWise, SolarWinds, or similar platforms. Help identify potential issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members.
  • Collaborate in troubleshooting connectivity issues, user access issues, and application errors by analyzing network data, logs, and configuration settings.
  • Follow security best practices in system and network configurations. Apply routine patches, updates, and system adjustments to align with compliance standards such as FERPA and GLBA.
  • Assist with periodic security audits, helping document findings and taking remedial steps to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
  • Maintain accurate records of system and network configurations, support requests, and troubleshooting processes to enhance knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Update infrastructure documentation under senior supervision, ensuring it reflects current configurations and setup processes.
  • Provide guidance for onsite support staff, providing technical knowledge and hands-on guidance to ensure effective knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Occasional travel to clients sites, as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Exposure to virtualized environments, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
  • Intermediate level experience configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory Services and Azure User Management, including AD administration, user account creation, Azure RBAC, OUs, security classes, and distribution lists.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Exchange and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments, with an emphasis on aligning infrastructure solutions with business objectives.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions that meet client needs and enhance user experiences.
  • Adaptability to changing client requirements and industry standards.
  • Enthusiasm for staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices in infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong commitment to technical excellence and a proactive approach to self-improvement and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional work experience.
  • 1 year of experience working in a technical IT role (e.g. desktop technician)

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience within a managed services environment.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working remotely from home.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365, VMware VCP, Azure Fundamentals, Veeam VMCE or equivalent experience with multi-vendor environments.
