As an Industry Advisor, you will work at the intersection of mission expertise and frontier technology, partnering with some of the most influential U.S. Federal agencies as they modernize operations, improve public services, and adopt AI at scale. You will help agency leaders identify transformational opportunities, shape AI-driven business outcomes, and accelerate mission impact through Microsoft Cloud and AI solutions.

This role combines strategic advisory, executive engagement, industry expertise, and innovation. You will work closely with customer executives, account teams, engineering teams, and partners to define transformation roadmaps, prioritize Forward Deployed Engineering opportunities, and scale proven patterns across the Federal Civilian landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted industry advisor to U.S. Federal Civilian agencies, bringing deep understanding of government missions, modernization priorities, and emerging technology trends.

  • Lead executive-level conversations that connect agency priorities and mission outcomes to Microsoft's cloud, data, security, and AI capabilities.

  • Develop and execute industry-led transformation strategies and multi-year roadmaps that help agencies modernize operations and improve citizen outcomes.

  • Identify, qualify, and shape high-impact AI transformation opportunities, partnering with Forward Deployed Engineering teams to accelerate innovation and customer value.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior government leaders, program executives, and mission stakeholders.

  • Partner with account teams, engineering resources, and solution specialists to create and advance a pipeline of strategic opportunities aligned to customer mission priorities.

  • Drive industry pattern recognition by identifying repeatable use cases, successful transformation approaches, and scalable AI solutions that can be leveraged across Federal agencies.

  • Orchestrate cross-functional Microsoft and partner resources to deliver measurable business and mission outcomes.

  • Provide customer and industry insights that influence product strategy, solution development, and future innovation opportunities.

  • Act as the strategic front door for Frontier and FDE engagements, helping customers move from vision to deployment and realized value.


Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field or related field AND 5+ years customer-facing experience in consulting, industry advisory, digital transformation, program management, technology strategy, or related roles.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field AND 7+ years customer-facing experience in consulting, industry advisory, digital transformation, program management, technology strategy, or related roles.
    • OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: 
Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.  
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise supporting large-scale Federal Civilian digital transformation, modernization, cloud adoption, or AI programs.
  • Experience with generative AI, agentic AI, advanced analytics, automation, and cloud technologies.

  • Understanding of Federal acquisition processes, security requirements, regulatory frameworks, and compliance environments.

  • Proven ability to build executive relationships and influence strategic decision-making across large, complex organizations.

  • Experience partnering with engineering and delivery teams to bring innovative solutions from concept through deployment and adoption.


Industry Advisory IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
