INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR - Instructional Designer (AI Enhanced Learning Solutions)
This role will begin as a 1099 contract engagement, with the potential to convert to a full‑time position based on business needs and performance.
A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make: As a contract Instructional Designer, you will partner with DEKRA subject matter experts, consultants, and project leaders to design and deliver high‑impact learning solutions that strengthen safety culture, human performance, and operational excellence. Using modern instructional design practices and AI‑enhanced development tools, you will accelerate content creation while maintaining DEKRA’s quality, consistency, and brand standards. Your work directly supports DEKRA’s mission to make the world a safer place—at work, on the road, and at home.
What You’ll Do:
Learning Design & Development
- Design and develop learning solutions for in‑person workshops, virtual instructor‑led training, digital learning modules, and microlearning.
- Conduct learning needs analysis and recommend solutions aligned to DEKRA’s safety, human performance, and high‑risk industry focus.
- Create storyboards, scripts, facilitator guides, participant materials, assessments, and performance support tools.
AI‑Enhanced Content Creation
- Apply AI tools to accelerate content development, including text, visual, video, avatar, and voice‑based assets.
- Develop AI‑supported scenarios, simulations, or branching learning experiences where appropriate.
- Integrate AI workflows into authoring environments such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools.
Multimedia, Video & Avatar Development
- Produce high‑quality video learning assets, including AI‑generated avatars, explainer videos, and microlearning videos.
- Utilize tools such as OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, HeyGen, Synthesia, Descript, or similar platforms to deliver polished, branded multimedia content.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accuracy, clarity, and production quality.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage learning development projects from kickoff through delivery, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality standards are met.
- Communicate proactively with project sponsors, SMEs, and cross‑functional partners.
- Deliver work on time, within scope, and aligned to DEKRA expectations.
What You’ll Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in Instructional Design or Learning Experience Design.
- Experience with AI‑enhanced content creation.
- Proficiency with Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring tools.
- Strong video and avatar‑based content development skills.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Portfolio required, showcasing multimedia learning and AI‑driven samples.
- Familiarity with DEKRA‑relevant sectors such as safety, human performance, or high‑risk industries.
- Experience working across multiple LMS platforms, including course publishing, validation, troubleshooting, and learner deployment using SCORM and/or xAPI.
- Working knowledge of ADDIE, SAM, or LXD methodologies.
- Graphic design or motion design experience (preferred).
Physical Considerations:
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage)
- Extended periods of computer-based work
Travel Considerations:
- < 25% with occasional onsite collaboration
