Job Description SummaryThe Senior Software Engineer for Avionics Tools lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business. In Avionic Tools, the Senior Software Engineer is the technology focal point and a leader who drives collaboration between design teams, quality team and customer teams for the purposes of innovative design, quality software, and maintainability. You will be responsible for driving rigor, technical quality, and engineering excellence by engaging with cross-functional engineering stakeholders to constructively manage and resolve complex issues within the various teams. In this role, you will support both commercial and military programs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultation and leadership during the design process.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the design, development and verification processes.
  • Communicate with business leaders and key stakeholders as needed to keep them apprised and updated on critical issues related to valves and actuators.
  • Lead and engage with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) teams. Sign off on RCCA completions.
  • Champion Lean methods
  • Mentor and guide technical community
  • Role model identifying, quantifying, and mitigating technical risk against business risk. Mentor and coach the broader technical community in this area.
  • Disseminate lessons learned across Engineering organizations and other functions.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, partners and vendors to ensure inter-operability and reuse.
  • Propose and develop new technical solutions to difficult problems.
  • Design, create, fix, and review software written in C# and Python.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.  GE will require proof of status.

  • Significant aviation industry experience
  • Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in an Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven leadership (indirect and/or direct) experience with global teams
  • Makes decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to take ownership of issues and drive solutions
  • Strong ability to influence others, drive change, and align cross-functional teams to success
  • Demonstrated clear thinker – able to solve complex technical challenges and communicate actions/solutions in clear concise manner that drives impact
  • Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve results
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
  • Experience in programming C#, C++, Java and/or Python.
  • Problem solving skills to discover root causes and fix issues.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
