Position Summary:
The Talent Services Manager partners with the Chief Talent Officer, Co-Managing Shareholders and Business Director to provide talent services, professional development and recruiting support to the Firm’s Boston office in the areas of performance management, training and development, employee relations, policy administration, and other areas within the Talent Services department.
Key Responsibilities
Leads the recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for attorneys and staff, including identifying candidates and conducting new hire orientation.
Collaborates with management to develop initiatives that enhance morale, engagement, and retention, fostering a positive and inclusive culture that promotes professional growth and opportunities.
Serves as a resource for employees and managers on HR policies, benefits, FMLA, STD/LTD, and Worker’s Compensation, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Partners with local management to address and resolve complex employee relations issues; , by providing coaching and guidance to managers on policy interpretation, performance management, corrective actions, disciplinary processes, and separations.
Oversees the performance management process for associates and staff, including talent reviews, development of improvement plans, and facilitation of manager training and professional development programs.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of fundamental compensation principles; provides informed salary recommendations and supports the Business Director in the annual administration of salaries and bonuses for local support staff.
Collaborates with firmwide Talent Services leadership to provide input on workforce and succession planning, including identifying career paths, skill gaps, and training resources; ensures all training requirements are completed within established deadlines.
Maintains accurate and compliant personnel records, recruitment documentation, I-9s, EEO files, and new hire/separation records.
Develops, implements, and continuously improves HR processes, practices, and procedures, recommending policy changes where appropriate and supporting change management initiatives within the office.
Collaborates with office management and the Career Development Liaisons to support the growth, development, and retention of associates.
Supervises legal support staff to ensure they deliver high-quality assistance to attorneys and maintain efficient workflow.
Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to establish credibility with staff, attorneys, and executive management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation.
Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
Analytical with strong problem-solving skills, takes initiative and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skills.
Provide outstanding client service, meet high quality standards for services, and meet or exceed client expectations; proactive in seeking innovative ways in which to help others.
Education & Prior Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Human Resources, business management, or related field preferably in a law firm environment or professional services organization, including prior management/supervisory experience.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.
Demonstrated experience recruiting and understanding of best practices in Human Resources a plus.
General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
Strong understanding of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
Technology:
Experience with ATS and HRIS systems, preferably with Workday.
Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook as well as Adobe.
Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
The expected pay range for this position is:
$140,000 - $155,000 annually
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
