Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager with a strong background in employee relations and California employment practices. This position will serve as a strategic HR partner to operational leaders while overseeing employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, compliance, and HR operations.

The successful candidate must have at least three years of direct employee relations experience and demonstrated experience supporting employees and operations in California. This role requires sound judgment, strong investigative skills, and the ability to provide practical, consistent guidance in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting retail, automotive, car wash, hospitality, or another multi-unit operational environment.
  • Experience with Paycom or a comparable HRIS.
  • Experience reviewing background checks and administering pre-adverse and adverse action processes.
  • Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHRca.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Minimum of three years of direct employee relations experience.
  • Prior supervisory or people-management experience is required, including responsibility for coaching, developing, and managing the performance of HR team members.
  • California HR experience is required, including demonstrated knowledge of California employment laws and HR practices.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and documenting complex workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, conflicts of interest, and other sensitive employee matters.
  • Experience advising managers on corrective actions, performance improvement plans, involuntary terminations, and other risk-sensitive employment decisions.
  • Experience supporting a multi-location and multi-state workforce.
  • Working knowledge of wage-and-hour requirements, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, the interactive process, harassment prevention, and workplace safety.
  • Ability to interpret and consistently apply company policies and employment requirements.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
