The Human Capital Advisory Director is a senior leader responsible for delivering complex, high-impact human capital solutions across a diverse client base. This role will be accountable for helping build out the practice and plays a critical role in mentoring and developing team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment, and driving operational excellence across the practice.

The Director brings deep, hands-on experience leading organizational effectiveness initiatives, including organizational design, job architecture, competency models, and performance management program design. They will lead client engagements end-to-end, oversee delivery quality and client relationships, contribute to practice growth and business development efforts, and help build scalable methodologies, capabilities, and talent within RSM’s Human Capital consulting practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver client engagements focused on organizational design, job architecture, competency model development, career pathing, succession planning and performance management program design across multiple industries

  • Lead workforce transformation strategy initiatives and drive practice growth by helping clients align organizational structures, talent strategies, operating models, and workforce capabilities with business priorities and future growth objectives

  • Manage multiple concurrent client engagements and priorities, ensuring high-quality delivery, effective resource management, proactive risk mitigation, and alignment to project timelines and budgets

  • Serve as the primary engagement leader, accountable for scope, quality, delivery timelines, and financial performance

  • Partner closely with senior client stakeholders to diagnose organizational challenges and design practical, scalable solutions

  • Translate strategy into actionable operating model, structure, role clarity, and talent framework recommendations

  • Oversee the development of deliverables including assessments, design assets, implementation roadmaps, and change enablement materials

  • Lead, coach, and develop consulting teams, providing performance feedback, mentorship, and career guidance

  • Contribute to practice growth through business development, proposal development, and solution shaping

  • Support the development and refinement of firm methodologies, tools, and intellectual capital related to organizational effectiveness and performance

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned to client strategy

  • Actively participate in practice operations, including resource planning, engagement staffing, and talent development initiatives

  • Provide thought leadership through internal knowledge sharing, client presentations, and external content creation

Qualifications

  • 10 + years of progressive experience in human capital or management consulting

  • Demonstrated hands on delivery experience in organizational design, competency models, job architecture, and performance management program design

  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-workstream engagements with senior level client stakeholders

  • Experience delivering projects across multiple industries, preferably within the middle market

  • Strong understanding of consulting firm operations, including engagement economics, delivery governance, and practice growth

  • Experience building, leading, and growing high performing consulting teams and practices

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot to improve productivity, quality of work, and client delivery outcomes

  • Strong understanding of AI limitations, risks, and responsible use practices within a professional services environment

  • Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI generated outputs to ensure accuracy and client readiness

  • Experience integrating AI into daily workflows, project delivery, and business processes

  • Excellent executive presence with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Management, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional services or large consulting firm environment

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications in organizational development, human resources, or change management

  • Experience supporting large scale transformation initiatives that intersect with workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in organizational design or performance management disciplines

  • Continuous learning mindset with the ability to stay current on emerging AI capabilities and evolving consulting practices

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $134,000 - $269,000

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
