In this onsite role, you will contribute to enhancing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance at the ABB Industrial C&S Arecibo Plant in Puerto Rico. You will help foster a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE by applying your expertise to support the business, offer solutions, and ensure effective risk management across the ABB value chain.

Your main stakeholders will include:

  • Plant Operations and Maintenance Teams
  • Site Management and Supervisors
  • Corporate HSE Leadership
  • External Regulatory Bodies and Auditors
Key Responsibilities

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Reporting HSE incidents to management and relevant stakeholders, and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
  • Facilitating and guiding incident investigations to identify root causes and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Sharing feedback and lessons learned with management and employees, leveraging best practices from within ABB and across the industry.
  • Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific HSE performance improvement programs.
  •  Monitor workplace conditions and recommend improvements to enhance occupational health and safety.
  •   Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
  •  Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  •  Develop and implement training programs related to safety practices, emergency response, and environmental management.

Qualifications for the Role
  • You are highly skilled in HSE management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques within the industrial manufacturing sector.
  • You have 2+ years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in a plant or industrial setting.
  • (Optional) Experience working as an HSE Specialist with ISO 14001 & 50,001 International standard certifications, PROSHA VPP Programs, in a industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in specialized platforms such as SAP, Intelex, Gensuite PM-PRO or similar HSE software.
  • You are passionate about continuous improvement, safety culture development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Hold current OSHA certifications valid in Puerto Rico and meet any applicable work permit or visa requirements.
