Position Summary

We are currently searching for an experienced, hands on, VP/Executive Director of People & Culture to ensure that all human resource operations are managed smoothly and effectively. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and providing sound advice to senior management on all related subjects. Experience with start-ups or high-tech or biotech/health IT companies is a plus. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with an ability to engage in important and sensitive conversations at multiple levels. This role will play a key role on the leadership team by exhibiting extraordinary organizational and operational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a sincere desire to achieve great results.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all HR initiatives and systems including recruiting, onboarding, &training of new employees
  • Drive career advancement, performance management and retention for current employees
  • Manage the external vendor handling HR operations, including benefits, HRIS and payroll
  • Organize company celebrations, all hands meetings and lead culture
  • Provide employee relations expertise ensuring compliance to company practices; state and federal employment law
  • Negotiate with benefits brokers and vendors
  • Administer benefits and open enrollment events working with outsourced vendor(s)
  • Perform market compensation analysis and study internal equity
  • Administer all immigration related activities
  • Partner closely with the leadership team to advance growth of company value
  • Work with CEO and compensation committee of the Board of Directors on goal setting & incentive compensation 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or 7-10 years of HR Generalist experience; preferably in Biotechnology/pharmaceutical company
  • Strong business acumen; understands the key financial drivers and dynamics related to growth
  • Able to effectively manage multiple high priority projects while meeting established timelines
  • Demonstrated relationship building, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience and understanding of a rapid growing startup culture is ideal
  • Highly analytical and strong emotional intelligence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web applications. Experience with Human Resource Information Systems preferred
