We're growing the Global Employee Relations Team!
We are looking for a Principal Employee Relations/Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for end-to-end Employee Relations case management and investigations for our Healthcare division. You will be accountable for working with employees across the Healthcare organization, building trusted relationships quickly, and driving the right solutions. The key objective is to ensure all employees are living their Nuance Values and that all employees are treated fairly, respectfully and in accordance with the law. The ideal candidate has strong communication, judgement and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of issues. You will work in close partnership with Legal, People Business Partners, Centers of Excellence and Business Leaders to understand business plans and Employee Relations challenges. You will ensure that we follow process, principles, and practices to navigate complex and sensitive matters, conduct investigations and manage workplace conflict.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Director - Employment Practices and Legal to handle Employee Relations (ER) and Compliance issues.
  • Help create and deliver ER training in coordination with our Centers of Excellence with a focus on prevention.
  • Investigate concerns in a fair and balanced manner and in compliance with our policies and laws.
  • Provide advice and counsel to People Business Partners and Business Leaders on how to manage and coach through ER issues.
  • Oversee various projects & initiatives including new legislation in employment law & updating relevant ER policies and practices.
  • Champions Nuance Values and Culture.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and standardization on processes.
  • Review and analyze compliance data; Prepare compliance reports as needed including governmental, internal, and audit compliance reporting (EEO-1, AAP, OSHA, VETS, BLS, other agencies, customer audits).
  • Oversee the Workers Compensation process, to include but not limited to educating internal partners on the process, assisting employees with claim filing, and coordinating with insurance provider on all open cases.
  • Support the People Business Partners (PBPs) and serve as a liaison to the Business handling all ER related issues, interpretation of Company policies and management of employee issues including but not limited to investigation and resolution, and assistance with reviewing and providing guidance on Performance/Behavioral Improvement Plans as needed.
  • Recommend and create policies and procedures to align with overall Nuance policies and People & Employment Practices strategy.
  • Assist in developing employee relations programs which strengthen overall employee engagement and employee satisfaction.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality in all dealings.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or in a related field.
  • 7 or more years of hands-on experience in the application of compliance policies and procedures


Required Experience:

  • Solid understanding of Employment laws and regulations and demonstrated research abilities in creating and delivering presentations.
  • Detailed level of knowledge regarding US local, state, and federal Employment laws and accepted People Practices. (Global experience a plus).
  • Proven ability to design processes and programs that align with the operations of the business.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities to meet deadlines, and communicate the status of projects to leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Managing non-exempt workforce issues experience is preferred (Call center/call management).
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Experience with working in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient with HR Information Systems (Workday), Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Teams), and other systems as applicable.
  • Ability to build rapport, establish relationships, influence and partner with people across all levels of the company with ease.
  • Action-oriented, able to conduct complex Employee Relations investigations, and analyze incidents to ascertain root causes, as well as recommend action plans.
