  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor on employee matters with regulatory or compliance implications, including performance management, terminations, and conflict resolution.
  • Support corporate compliance initiatives, reporting requirements, and ongoing diligence efforts.
  • Assist with vendor compliance reviews and operational diligence processes.
  • Benefits & People Operations
  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs (health, wellness, retirement), ensuring accurate administration and compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure a positive, compliant, and scalable benefits experience.
  • Remote Employee Lifecycle
  • Design and execute streamlined, engaging, and asynchronous onboarding and offboarding processes for remote employees.
  • Ensure smooth transitions throughout the employee lifecycle while maintaining compliance and a strong employee experience.
  • Operational & Systems Support
  • Assist in the development and documentation of company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Support the design and specification of automated data flows, reporting, and analytics related to HR and operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on operational projects and process improvements as the company scales.

 Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: 4+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources and/or Operations, including at least 2 years supporting a fully remote or distributed workforce.
  • Compliance Expertise: Strong knowledge of multi-state U.S. employment compliance (tax, PTO, leave laws). International compliance experience is a strong plus.
  • PEO Experience: Hands-on experience working with PEO platforms and vendors.
  • Certifications (Preferred): PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

  • You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys managing complexity.
  • You excel in asynchronous communication and leverage digital tools to drive clarity, connection, and efficiency.
  • You have a proven track record of supporting compliance and operational needs in a distributed, high-growth environment.
  • You’re energized by building scalable systems and being a trusted partner to leadership and employees alike.

Ready to Join Our Team?

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000, plus equity
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); paid time off and company holidays

If you are an HR and operations leader who’s excited to build strong foundations in a fast-growing, fully remote tech company, we’d love to hear from you!

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
