Lead the design and optimization of high-performance compute infrastructure for robotics, ensuring integration, security, and efficiency.
About this Role:
Pickle Robot is looking for a High Performance Systems Architect to help shape the future of warehouse automation. In this role, you'll lead the design, improvement, and maintenance of Pickle’s compute infrastructure—both on-robot and in the cloud.
You’ll be a key member of our multidisciplinary Platform and Infrastructure team, which supports compute and system configuration across our growing fleet of robots. This is a high-impact role, requiring deep knowledge of systems architecture, performance optimization, and hardware-software integration.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with systems thinking and a desire to solve real-world problems in logistics automation. You’ll be responsible for driving high-performance computing solutions that ensure robust, secure, and efficient operation of our robotic systems.
What You’ll Accomplish:
- Design a comprehensive computing architecture that optimizes for CPU/GPU performance while balancing thermal requirements.
- Tune system configuration to optimize performance guided by benchmarking experiments.
- Define and manage appropriate sensor/actuator controller integration and communication architecture for optimal performance.
- Identify and work with industry partners to build functional prototypes to validate design concepts and architectural decisions.
- Partner with hardware engineering to ensure effective integration into mobile robot environment.
- Optimize system security, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or related technical field.
- Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and Linux system optimization.
- Experience with ML/AI workloads and their specific hardware requirements, including NVIDIA Jetson.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker)
- Ideally experience with industrial robotics computational infrastructure.
- Strong verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for critical issue response.
- Willing and able to work from our Charlestown, MA office at least three times per week.
About Pickle Robot
Pickle Robot is a pioneer in Physical AI for supply chain applications. Today Pickle robots autonomously unload trucks, trailers, and import containers at human-scale or better performance. The alternative is manual work that is difficult, dirty, sometimes dangerous, and increasingly hard to staff at distribution centers around the globe. Pickle Robot is laser focused on automating truck unloading using generative AI, machine learning, computer vision, advanced sensors, and industrial robotics to deliver engineered products customers rely on. Pickle Robot Unload Systems work alongside people on loading docks to make the work safer, faster, and more efficient. Pickle robots are physical AI that unload trucks.
Pickle provides best-in-class benefits including health, dental, & vision insurance; unlimited vacation, along with all federal and state holidays; 401K contributions of 5% your salary, travel supplies, and other items to make your working life more fun, comfortable, and productive.
