About the Role
 
Our client, a global investment organization with a sophisticated alternative strategies platform, is seeking a Tax Manager to join its expanding finance team. This position will play a key role in supporting investment vehicles and managed account structures through oversight of tax operations, strategic tax planning, and coordination of external service providers.
 
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with investment professionals, fund operations, finance, legal, and external advisors to help ensure efficient tax reporting, strong governance practices, and effective support for tax-sensitive investment activity.
This opportunity is well suited for a motivated tax professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced investment environment and contributing to the buildout of scalable infrastructure within a growing business.

Responsibilities

    • Oversee tax-related activities for investment partnerships and managed account structures, including coordination of filings, investor reporting, and related compliance obligations.
    • Review and manage tax deliverables prepared by external accounting firms and administrators.
    • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding the tax impact of investment activity and portfolio transactions.
    • Assist in evaluating tax considerations associated with equities, fixed income instruments, derivatives, and other complex financial products.
    • Support internal processes related to tax allocations, realized/unrealized gains and losses, and investment accounting matters.
    • Coordinate with auditors, administrators, and external advisors to resolve reporting issues and maintain consistency across tax workstreams.
    • Track changes in tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and reporting requirements relevant to investment management businesses.
    • Help strengthen internal controls, operating procedures, and governance documentation related to tax operations.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operational risk, and enhance reporting accuracy across tax processes.
    • Participate in strategic projects and operational initiatives supporting the continued growth of the platform.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

    • 5+ years of experience within investment management tax, partnership taxation, or public accounting environments.
    • Background supporting hedge funds, private funds, alternative investments, or managed account structures preferred.
    • Familiarity with partnership allocations, investor reporting, and fund-related tax compliance requirements.
    • Understanding of tax treatment for financial instruments including derivatives, swaps, and other structured transactions.
    • Ability to interpret complex tax matters and communicate implications effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience working alongside external accounting firms, fund administrators, and audit teams.
    • CPA designation and/or advanced taxation degree preferred.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Advanced Excel proficiency and comfort working with large financial datasets.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities while operating effectively in a collaborative team environment.
