The U.S. healthcare system is complex, error-prone, and financially draining. Medical bills and insurance coverage shouldn’t be this hard to navigate.
At Granted, we’re building the one solution every American can turn to for help.
Thanks to AI and new regulations, Granted can fight claim denials, correct billing errors, negotiate bills, and make coverage easier to understand—saving people time, money, and stress. Our goal is simple: to be the #1 platform that empowers all Americans to take charge of their healthcare.
Founded by a former Oscar Health leader, we’re a seed-stage company with $17M in funding. We’re backed by the founders and investors at Hugging Face, Rocket Money, Oscar Health, CaseText, Forerunner Ventures, RRE Ventures, and more.
We're well-funded for the next few years and building the future of healthcare advocacy.
🔎 About the RoleThis isn't a traditional customer support role. As a Healthcare Advocate, you'll own complex medical billing and insurance cases from start to finish. Our AI handles the initial intake so you can focus on the part that matters most—solving problems, advocating for users, and helping people navigate one of the most frustrating systems they'll ever encounter. You'll work on a small, collaborative team where your ideas help shape our product, processes, and the future of Granted.
If you're looking for a job where you simply answer tickets, this probably isn't it. If you're passionate about helping people fight a broken healthcare system, we'd love to meet you.
🤝 Healthcare Advocacy TeamWe're a lean, collaborative team with years of experience in medical billing, insurance, and patient advocacy. We help each other constantly, share strategies in real time, and celebrate wins together. As an early-stage company, everyone's ideas matter—including yours.
❤️ Who Thrives HereWe care as much about mindset as experience. You'll probably thrive here if you:
Care deeply about helping people navigate the healthcare system.
Have personally experienced (or watched someone experience) how frustrating medical billing and insurance can be.
Love solving difficult problems that don't have obvious answers.
Enjoy figuring out why a claim denied, an EOB doesn't match a bill, or a provider billed incorrectly.
Naturally, look for ways to improve products and processes instead of accepting "that's how it's always been."
Enjoy testing new ideas and experimenting with better ways of working. We're constantly refining our processes, and we value people who are excited to try something new, measure the results, and iterate.
Challenge the status quo constructively. If you think a process could be better, we want to hear it—but come with a proposed solution, not just a reason it won't work.
Are comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting as we grow.
Have used a product and immediately thought, "I'd love to tell the team how to make this better." We expect everyone to help improve Granted.
The work isn't always easy, but it's meaningful. Every case has a real impact on someone's life, and that's what motivates our team every day.
🛠️ What You'll DoResolve complex user cases end-to-end, from AI handoff through final outcome.
Contact providers and insurers via phone, email, and fax to verify coverage, correct claim and billing issues, and unblock next steps.
Investigate and triage issues across benefits, eligibility, claims, prior authorization, billing codes, and payment responsibility.
Advocate for the user by pushing cases forward with persistence, clear escalation paths, and strong documentation.
Communicate clearly with users, setting expectations, sharing progress, and explaining options in plain language.
Maintain high-quality case notes so anyone can understand what happened, what changed, and what to do next.
Continuously learn healthcare regulations, payer behavior, and internal playbooks, and apply that learning quickly.
Improve how we operate by collaborating with other Healthcare Advocates, identifying repeat issues, tightening workflows, and helping build playbooks that scale.
Partner with Product and Engineering to turn real case patterns into product improvements and better automation.
Must-Haves:
You've personally navigated a complicated healthcare or insurance situation — for yourself, a parent, a partner, or another family member — and know what it's like to sit on hold, decode an EOB, or fight a denied claim.
Comfortable reading and interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), or willing to learn fast — bonus if you've already had to figure one out for someone you care about.
Strong instinct for problem-solving through ambiguity — no playbook exists for most of what you'll do, and you'll need to figure out the next right step without hand-holding.
Excellent written communication skills. Almost all user interaction happens over chat, not phone — you need to write clearly, warmly, and precisely under real stakes.
Comfortable being direct and persistent with institutions (insurers, provider billing offices) on someone else's behalf.
Genuine interest in healthcare, insurance, or patient advocacy as a space you want to build a career in — this is a founding role, not a stepping stone.
Nice-to-Haves:
Coursework or self-study in health policy, public health, healthcare administration, or a related field.
Experience in a high-ownership, low-structure environment (startup internship, small nonprofit, research lab, running your own project) — you build process rather than wait for one.
Flexible schedule to work 40 hours between 7am–8pm EST, 7 days/week, either:
Sunday–Thursday, 9am–6pm, OR
Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–7pm
Individual compensation will vary based on experience, relevant expertise, and geographic location.
