Job Description

About the Role:

  • Shape and own Takeda Medical’s future-state scientific engagement and omnichannel strategy, including the enterprise roadmap, operating model, investment priorities, and capabilities required to respond to the rapidly evolving ways HCPs and patients discover, evaluate, trust, and use medical and scientific information in an AI-enabled environment.
  • Establish the Medical foundation and enterprise strategic framework for a scalable scientific engagement model, setting the principles, standards, and requirements that advance Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI-enabled ways of working and inform how scientific and evidence-based information is developed, disseminated, discovered, and accessed across Takeda.
  • Define and own Takeda’s enterprise GEO strategy across content, evidence, dissemination, governance, measurement, external ecosystems, data, platforms, and technology to improve the discoverability, accuracy, visibility, and trusted representation of Takeda’s scientific and medical information across AI-powered search and generative platforms, and set the GEO and discoverability requirements that inform downstream external Medical content, Publications, and Medical Information.
  • Advise senior Medical leadership on emerging risks, opportunities, investment priorities, operating-model implications, and capability requirements resulting from changes in scientific information access, AI adoption, stakeholder behavior, and the external information ecosystem.
  • Drive cultural and operational transformation and internal communication across the enterprise to ensure widespread adoption and successful implementation of our omnichannel and digital strategies and AI enablement.
  • Serve as Medical’s strategy lead for external AI, clinical intelligence, medical education, and HCP engagement companies and emerging platforms, and integration into Global Medical workflow.
  • Provide enterprise leadership and decision authority across functions and geographies, building alignment and consensus among senior stakeholders and representing Medical’s digital scientific engagement and omnichannel priorities in enterprise governance, transformation, data, and digital initiatives.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Enterprise scientific engagement and omnichannel strategy: Own and establish the global scientific engagement and omnichannel strategy, strategic roadmap, portfolio of priorities, and differentiated stakeholder experience across the full channel mix.
  • Enterprise GEO strategy, governance, and Medical implementation: Own the overarching GEO strategy as an information, content, evidence, and engagement capability, not solely a technology initiative. Establish and chair an enterprise-wide GEO Strategy Steering Committee to establish governance, decision rights, strategic priorities, cross-functional accountabilities, investment recommendations, and escalation pathways. Establish and lead a Medical GEO Working Group to translate enterprise direction into scientific standards and implementation priorities, including evidence prioritization, source traceability, citation integrity, contextual accuracy, content freshness, structured scientific statements, metadata, lifecycle management, monitoring, and remediation.
  • Stakeholder intelligence, journeys, and measurement: Establish an enterprise HCP and scientific stakeholder intelligence and measurement capability that identifies how stakeholders discover, evaluate, consume, trust, and apply scientific information; use these insights to shape stakeholder journeys, channel strategy, evidence and engagement priorities, and define enterprise measures of scientific discoverability, information quality, engagement effectiveness, stakeholder outcomes, evidence gaps, and remediation needs.
  • Field Medical digital scientific exchange: Provide enterprise strategic direction for the evolution of Field Medical scientific exchange in an AI-enabled environment, including how Field Medical insights identify evidence gaps, unmet information needs, scientific misperceptions, GEO priorities, and areas where AI-generated information lacks appropriate context.
  • Global-to-local strategy and execution: Partner with Global Medical, USBU, and IBU Regional and LOC Medical teams to align scientific engagement and omnichannel strategy with enterprise priorities, adapt the global approach to local stakeholder needs, regulatory requirements, and infrastructure realities, and ensure markets are equipped to execute effectively.
  • Content, platform, data, and capability enablement: Partner with Global Data Dissemination leadership, GCC and US Medical Content Hub leadership, Scientific Communications, Medical Excellence/Operations, DD&T, and other relevant functions to translate strategy into scalable content, platform, data, capability, and operating-model requirements that enable effective omnichannel and AI-supported scientific engagement.
  • Scientific content deployment and integrity: Ensure publications, congress materials, Medical Information, and RWE/HEOR evidence are structured and deployable across the omnichannel architecture while meeting scientific, legal, regulatory, disclosure, privacy, and MLR requirements.
  • Medical and Commercial coordination: Partner with Commercial Engagement teams to establish a coordinated and appropriately firewalled engagement model in which Medical and Commercial strategies are complementary and compliant, with clear delineation of non-promotional and promotional engagement.
  • External AI and scientific-information platforms: Serve as the senior Medical strategy lead for external AI, clinical intelligence, medical education, and HCP information platforms; establish enterprise criteria for scientific credibility, transparency, evidence currency, privacy, governance, and compliant collaboration; and represent Takeda Medical in relevant external forums and partnerships.
  • Professional-society ecosystem strategy: Define Takeda Medical’s strategy for engaging professional societies as they evolve into AI-enabled knowledge, education, guideline-discovery, and medical-information platforms, identifying priority initiatives and appropriate engagement opportunities across therapeutic areas.
  • Enterprise risk and execution leadership: Anticipate enterprise risks, dependencies, and barriers to execution; establish appropriate mitigation and escalation pathways; and mobilize senior stakeholders to resolve issues affecting strategic priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science- or business-related field
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and Scientific Communications with 18 years of experience leading a global function, enterprise capability, transformation portfolio, or multiple interdependent sub-capabilities within Medical Affairs, Commercial Digital/Omnichannel, or related strategy roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise defining and scaling global scientific engagement and omnichannel strategies, including integrated digital experiences, field and hybrid engagement, HCP self-service, and emerging AI-enabled modalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global enterprise strategy in a complex matrix, communicate effectively with executive stakeholders, build cross-functional alignment and consensus, establish decision rights and accountability, and navigate competing priorities and conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary enterprise initiatives, establish priorities, and ensure effective execution in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends, translate ambiguity into enterprise strategy, shape investment priorities, and establish governance around new Medical Affairs capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs principles, scientific integrity, evidence quality, legal and regulatory requirements, privacy, compliant scientific exchange, and HCP information needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with professional societies, academic experts, HCPs, patient or advocacy organizations, external AI and clinical-intelligence companies, medical-education stakeholders, and other scientific ecosystem partners.

Strongly Preferred

  • Advanced degree in science or business-related field.
  • Experience with AI-enabled engagement, GEO, generative AI or RAG (retrieval augmented generation)-based platforms, personalization engines, clinical-intelligence tools, or next-generation CRM and engagement technologies.
  • Experience leading enterprise platform implementation, digital transformation, or Medical operating-model transformation.
  • Deep experience in scientific communications, including publications, Medical Communications, congress strategy, Medical Information, evidence dissemination, and omnichannel scientific engagement.
  • Prior experience in a global role with direct accountability to local/affiliate market teams.
