Position Overview

We're looking for a Head of Sales to join our team in Toronto and lead the next stage of growth for our Canadian consumer goods business. Reporting to the SVP North America and leading a team of two, you'll set and deliver the country's commercial strategy, build long-term partnerships with our retail customers, and make sure ZURU's brands win in store and online across Canada.

This is a new, full-time, office-based position in Toronto

Position Impact

You'll develop the commercial strategy for the Canadian market and use it to build strategic relationships across Canadian retail, delivering market share and profitability growth across our verticals. You'll lead the Canadian team to make sure ZURU captures, or over-indexes on, its share of shelf against competitors, working closely with commercial, marketing and supply teams to hit distribution goals and maximise performance at shelf. You'll also be comfortable delivering results as part of a cross-functional team spread across different time zones.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of the country P&L. Drive sales, optimise trade investment and maximise product mix to achieve financial goals, unlocking margin to reinvest in innovation.

  • Develop and execute the country commercial strategy to take on established players, and influence cross-functional teams to secure the tools, products and support you need to win.

  • Own key account relationships and build long-term partnerships. Negotiate and deliver Joint Business Plans that meet both ZURU's goals and our customers'.

  • Create and execute the Canadian customer trade strategy, deciding account and 4P execution across all customers to maximise performance.

  • Lead the Canadian team to maximise availability, visibility and awareness of ZURU brands in store and online through best-in-class distribution, features, displays and marketing activation.

  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, product launches and promotions that build brand awareness and generate demand.

  • Champion the customer internally, using insights to shape ZURU's direction and keep customers and consumers at the heart of account decisions.

  • Keep improving commercial processes to lift performance and drive efficiency.

  • Be a captain of culture, keeping ZURU's entrepreneurial spirit alive as we grow, while always putting people first.

Skills & Experience
  • At least 4–5 years in senior sales or commercial leadership roles in the consumer goods industry, ideally in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Experience working with major Canadian retailers.

  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to tailor messages to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership, including the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams and hold stakeholders accountable for delivering on business objectives.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
