About the role

The Head of Outsourced Procurement is responsible for the commercial relationship with Tier 1 partners across all product categories and to manage all aspects related to procurement and operations activities of the contract manufacturers. The role will need to ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance, and managing the partners’ performance as the KPI and scorecard, aligning with Dyson objectives. This role will also be developing procurement strategies & negotiations to meet the yearly cost reduction target.
 

Strategy Development:
Develop, refine, and execute a comprehensive outsourced procurement strategy that aligns with overall business objectives. Continuously review and adjust strategic plans to reflect changing business needs, technological advancements, and evolving supply markets.

Supplier Management:
Build and manage the performance of partnerships across all Tier 1 suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration to drive mutual success. Set clear expectations and service level agreements (SLAs), and consistently monitor supplier performance using a structured review process. Address performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed to uphold quality and reliability.

Contract Negotiation:
Lead all contract negotiations with partners for Dyson’s best interests. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions that provide optimal value while minimizing risk. Collaborate with the legal team to structure agreements that are clear, compliant, and enforceable. Ensure contracts contain adequate provisions for service delivery, confidentiality, intellectual property, and termination.

Process Optimization:
Map current procurement workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to maximize efficiency across the outsourced procurement landscape. Leverage process automation, digital tools, and best practices to minimize manual intervention and reduce turnaround times. Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team by championing operational excellence initiatives and soliciting feedback for process enhancements.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
Serve as the main point of contact for internal departments, working closely with cross-functional teams such as operations, finance, legal, and RDD. Ensure procurement strategies are responsive to stakeholder needs and integrated with broader organizational plans. Facilitate regular communication and update stakeholders on key developments, performance metrics, and areas for collaborative improvement.

Risk Management:
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated, including supply continuity, regulatory compliance, data security, and business ethics. Establish comprehensive risk management protocols and contingency plans. Conduct periodic risk assessments and develop close monitoring mechanisms to detect and address emerging threats promptly.

Performance Analysis:
Define clear and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) for outsourced procurement activities. Implement rigorous monitoring and reporting systems to track supplier performance, cost savings, process efficiencies, and compliance metrics. Analyze data to identify patterns, opportunities for improvement, and potential issues, and present regular performance reports and recommendations to senior leadership.

Cost Management:
Develop and implement robust cost management initiatives to achieve sustainable cost savings across all projects. Utilize data-driven analytics to identify areas of unnecessary spend or potential savings. Lead price benchmarking exercises, negotiate volume discounts, and implement demand management strategies to ensure maximum value is extracted from every procurement activity.

Compliance:
Ensure that all outsourced procurement operations adhere to both internal policies and external regulatory requirements, local and international laws where applicable. Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework. Work with CSER and relevant team  changes in relevant regulations and update procurement practices as necessary to remain in compliance.

Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, foster a collaborative team culture, and support professional growth and skill development. Promote best practices and continuous learning to ensure the team remains agile and effective in a dynamic business environment.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field

  • 15+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing outsourced procurement and/or third-party management.

  • Experienced in dealing with EMS/CM/JDM vendors

  • Advantageous if you have experience in Cost Management; involving optimizing all costs associated with services provided by Tier 1 suppliers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management.

  • Demonstrated experience with contract drafting, negotiation, and vendor management.

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
