Profile Overview

We are a programmatic acquirer and permanent capital partner to exceptional B2B SaaS businesses across North America and Western Europe. Our portfolio encompasses 25+ mission-critical software platforms supported by 400+ professionals across 50+ countries.

Our investment philosophy centers on identifying outlier companies—the top 1% solving enduring market needs with capital-efficient business models, durable organic growth, and robust unit economics. We deploy a thesis-driven, highly disciplined acquisition framework targeting 3-6 strategically aligned SaaS platforms annually, each presenting compelling value creation opportunities and clear pathways to accelerated revenue and EBITDA expansion.

Origination is the cornerstone of our platform. This function identifies and cultivates the relationships that define our portfolio.

This is a player-coach leadership position requiring equal mastery of strategy and execution.

You will lead our North American and European origination functions while architecting our broader deal sourcing strategy. Your mandate: ensure deal flow alignment with our long-term value creation objectives and strategic imperatives, including our AI-forward investment thesis. Simultaneously, you will maintain an individual origination quota—leading by example and establishing best-in-class standards for the team.

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Team deal closures (annual target achievement)
  • New Opportunities and Qualified Opportunities generated per week
  • Substantive founder/executive conversations per week
  • Outbound call conversion rates and activity metrics
Your responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Collaborate with the Head of M&A and senior leadership to define and execute origination strategy aligned with platform growth objectives
  • Establish and monitor annual financial and operational metrics for the origination function
  • Identify high-conviction investment verticals and continuously refine our acquisition thesis
  • Spearhead AI-centric sourcing initiatives, including both existing pipeline development and greenfield opportunity identification
  • Codify best practices and implement scalable processes that consistently generate exceptional deal flow

Team Development & Management

  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing origination team spanning North America and Europe
  • Define origination KPIs and maintain rigorous accountability frameworks
  • Provide coaching on sourcing frameworks, negotiation tactics, and relationship cultivation strategies
  • Drive continuous performance improvement and swiftly address execution gaps

Individual Contribution

  • Maintain personal origination quota by sourcing and engaging bootstrapped, product-led growth (PLG) B2B SaaS founders
  • Cultivate founder relationships that convert to signed Letters of Intent (LOIs)

Transaction Support

  • Partner with deal execution teams on advanced-stage pipeline management
  • Contribute investment perspective to valuation discussions and structure compelling acquisition proposals
What You bring to the table

Background

  • Undergraduate degree minimum (advanced degree a plus)
  • 5-10+ years in one of the following:
    • Serial software acquirer (corp dev or origination)
    • Origination at a VC, PE, or investment banking shop
    • Expert network firm (AlphaSense, Guidepoint, Coleman Research, AlphaSights, GLG)
    • Buy-side sourcing platform (Finquest, Clavena, Harvey & Co)

Leadership Capabilities

  • Demonstrated people leadership managing teams of 3+ FTEs
  • Proven track record building and scaling high-performing sales or origination organizations
  • Ability to inspire, develop, and retain top talent in a metrics-driven environment

Execution Excellence

  • Exceptional pipeline discipline with a quantitative, metrics-oriented approach to deal generation
  • Extensive experience in outbound engagement—cold-calling founders and C-suite executives to build high-conversion acquisition funnels
  • Full-cycle deal experience from initial contact through signed term sheets
  • Superior relationship-building skills with ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments

Attributes & Mindset

  • Uncompromising professional standards coupled with persistent, achievement-oriented work ethic
  • Adaptive leadership style—equally effective operating independently or collaborating cross-functionally
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration in a fast-paced environment

AI-Forward Capabilities

  • Demonstrated expertise leveraging AI and automation to enhance origination productivity and competitive positioning
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Claude Code) or similar technologies that create operational leverage

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
