Description

At BusRight, we believe that safe, efficient, and reliable transportation is the key to unlocking educational opportunities for every child. As our first Head of Marketing, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing this mission to life, shaping the voice of a fast-growing startup, and building a marketing engine that drives 2x+ YoY revenue growth.

As BusRight’s Head of Marketing, you’ll own the full-funnel marketing strategy and execution, from brand development and ABM to community-driven campaigns that promote our hub & spoke sales strategy. You’ll also oversee and grow the marketing team, partnering with an experienced Senior Event Coordinator to maximize the impact of our in-person and virtual event marketing experiences.

We’ve more than doubled revenue YoY for the last several years, largely through referrals, and now we’re ready to scale. This is a “player-coach” role for someone who wants to drive real business growth while laying the foundation for a high-performing marketing function. Compensation is competitive and flexible based on experience. You’ll work from BusRight’s Brooklyn, NY office 3-5 days per week, alongside your direct report (Senior Event Coordinator) and your manager (the CEO).

A Bit About BusRight:

BusRight is a mobility startup with a team of ~50, serving over 70,000 users, including Transportation Directors, Drivers, and Parents, across 33 states. Our technology provides dynamic routing, real-time fleet tracking, parent communication, and operational tools that increase safety and reduce costs for the nation’s largest mass transit network, school buses.

At BusRight, we’re an early-stage, fast-growing company backed by top-tier investors, combining a mission-driven mindset with the grit of a startup. Every BusRighter has an outsized impact, and we’re looking for people who are excited to build, lead, and grow alongside us.

We’re a remote team with hubs in New York City, Boston, and Austin. To get a feel for the team and culture, check out our, this, and how we approach.

Responsibilities & Outcomes
  • Develop and launch a multi-channel Account-Based Marketing (ABM) strategy that reduces our average sales cycle by 20% in the first year.
  • Partner with Sales to design and execute a referral-driven demand generation strategy, growing inbound leads by 9% in your first year.
  • Design a prospect engagement journey that ensures key decision-makers receive targeted messages, case studies, and powerful marketing materials throughout the buying journey.
  • Launch a hub-and-spoke outbound strategy immediately after a new customer signs, that automatically enrolls 15+ nearby Transportation Directors into an email sequence and cold call cadence through your partnership with the BDR team.
  • Develop a brand source of truth that will serve as the foundation for creating engaging email cadences, a strong social media presence, immersive trade show booth designs, impactful video content, and more.
  • Establish data infrastructure and performance reporting, including campaign attribution, lead scoring, and marketing influence on pipeline/revenue.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Product to align on GTM priorities and drive consistent messaging.
A Day in the Life:
  • Start your morning reviewing funnel metrics, pipeline progression, and campaign performance with the Head of Revenue Operations, Head of Sales, and CEO.
  • Partner with Sales to identify new target accounts and key states and design an ABM campaign to reach specific stakeholders.
  • Join a sync with the Senior Event Coordinator to align on event logistics, follow-up strategy, and lead scoring models.
  • Jump into a working session with the CEO to align on brand positioning and plans for BusRight’s new website, which you’ll lead the effort for.
  • Review website conversion performance and test results from paid and organic media and content experiments, identifying where to double down or pivot.
Why This Role Matters:

By creating a culture and company that prioritizes how we make people feel vs. strictly what we make, you’ll have a tangible impact by:

  • Establishing BusRight as the trusted partner and platform to get students to and from school safely, resulting in shorter sales cycles, increased organic top-of-funnel growth, and accelerating market share expansion in key states.
  • Fueling sales reps with time, space, and leads to focus on relationships and driving new partnerships, helping them hit 90%+ of their quota on average.
  • Building stronger relationships with prospects and customers through high-quality, personalized touchpoints that embody our commitment to magical hospitality.

At BusRight, you won’t just have a seat at the table, you’ll help set it. This is your chance to shape the brand of a company transforming how millions of kids get to school…let’s build something unforgettable together.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
