Decibel is a high-performance, fully on-chain trading platform built in collaboration with Aptos Labs and the Decibel Foundation. Designed to match the speed of high performance trading, Decibel offers spot, perpetuals, and yield products through a unified, self-custodial interface. The platform runs on the Aptos blockchain, leveraging its sub-20ms block times and parallel execution to support real-time settlement, cross-margining, and modular vault strategies. Decibel aims to serve as the execution layer for the Aptos global trading engine, empowering traders, developers, and institutions with scalable, composable financial infrastructure.
Position OverviewThe Head of Marketing (Decibel) is a senior leadership role responsible for building and maintaining brand identity, creating compelling content, fostering community engagement, and executing awareness-driven campaigns for our decentralized full-stack financial exchange, Decibel. This individual will work closely with the Head of Growth to align on user acquisition and retention strategies, and collaborate with the Head of Business Development on partnership activations and influencer endorsements. A significant part of the workflow will involve partnering with external marketing agencies to scale creative and execution efforts. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in crypto/DeFi marketing, with a proven track record in brand building, content strategies, community management, PR, and agency oversight.
Key Responsibilities1. Brand Strategy and Awareness BuildingDevelop and execute a cohesive brand narrative to position Decibel as a leading decentralized exchange in the crypto space.
- Brand Identity Development:
- Define and refine brand guidelines, messaging, and visual identity in collaboration with design teams and agencies.
- Launch awareness campaigns across social media, podcasts, and industry publications to build top-of-funnel visibility.
- Market Positioning:
- Conduct competitive analysis to differentiate Decibel's unique value propositions (e.g., full-stack DeFi features, security, user experience).
- Work with Head of Growth to ensure brand messaging supports acquisition funnels.
- Content Strategy:
- Lead the creation of educational resources, thought leadership pieces, memes, videos, and social content tailored to DeFi audiences, leveraging agencies for production.
- Optimize content for SEO, virality, and platform-specific algorithms on Twitter (X), YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit.
- Distribution and Amplification:
- Manage content calendars and distribution channels, coordinating with agencies for scheduling and promotion.
- Collaborate with Head of Business Development to integrate content into partnership deals and influencer collaborations.
- Community Activation:
- Build and nurture Discord servers, Telegram groups, and on-chain communities to foster loyalty and advocacy, with agency support for moderation and events.
- Design engagement initiatives like AMAs, bounties, and NFT drops to drive interaction.
- Feedback and Sentiment Management:
- Monitor community feedback and sentiment using analytics tools, sharing insights with Head of Growth for retention strategies and Head of Business Development for partnership opportunities.
- Address community concerns proactively to maintain positive brand perception.
- PR Management:
- Secure media coverage in crypto outlets (CoinDesk, The Block) and mainstream press, working with PR agencies for pitches and crisis response.
- Craft press releases, announcements, and narratives around product launches and milestones.
- Events and Activations:
- Plan and execute participation in conferences (Token2049, DevCon, ETHDenver) with booths and panels, coordinating with Head of Business Development for networking.
- Host virtual events like Twitter Spaces and webinars, aligning with Head of Growth on promotional tactics.
- Influencer Engagement:
- Identify and onboard KOLs and influencers for brand endorsements, utilizing agency networks and collaborating with Head of Business Development for deal structuring.
- Develop co-marketing programs with DeFi protocols and tools, focusing on brand alignment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Support Head of Growth in integrating influencer campaigns into acquisition efforts.
- Partner with Head of Business Development on ecosystem alliances that enhance brand visibility.
- Vendor Selection & Onboarding:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard marketing agencies specializing in crypto/DeFi for creative, content, PR, and social media support.
- Negotiate contracts, budgets, and SLAs to ensure alignment with overall goals.
- Briefing & Oversight:
- Provide detailed briefs for agency projects, incorporating input from Head of Growth and Head of Business Development.
- Review deliverables and performance, ensuring consistency with brand standards and cross-functional objectives.
- Performance Evaluation:
- Track agency ROI through shared KPIs, fostering collaborative relationships for long-term scalability.
- Brand Metrics Tracking:
- Monitor brand health metrics like awareness, sentiment, and share of voice, using tools like Google Analytics and on-chain data.
- Provide reports and insights to leadership, highlighting how marketing efforts contribute to TVL and user growth.
- Cross-Team Alignment:
- Collaborate with Head of Growth on joint dashboards for holistic performance views.
- Share marketing data with Head of Business Development to inform partnership strategies.
5+ years in crypto/DeFi marketing (exchanges, protocols, or Web3 projects).
Proven track record in:
- Brand campaigns (building awareness and loyalty in competitive markets).
- Content and PR strategies (driving engagement through storytelling and media relations).
- Community management (scaling active user bases in Discord/Telegram).
- Agency collaboration (managing vendors for efficient execution).
Established network with:
- KOLs & Influencers (Crypto Twitter personalities, YouTubers).
- Media & PR Contacts (Journalists at CoinTelegraph, Decrypt; agencies in Web3).
- Ecosystem Players (DeFi protocols like Uniswap, Aave; event organizers).
Deep understanding of:
- DeFi ecosystems (yield farming, DEX mechanics, tokenomics).
- Crypto trends (memecoins, NFTs, community dynamics).
- Marketing tools (Content management systems, sentiment analysis, agency platforms).
- Creative Storyteller: Crafts resonant narratives that cut through crypto noise.
