Our Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy teams are the unsung heroes, obsessively working to source and deliver our products through a vast network: from manufacturers to our warehouses, and finally to the doorsteps of our customers via all shipping methods (TEU, LCL, small parcel, LTL, FTL).

WHO WE’RE SNIFFING FOR

We’re seeking a Vice President of Logistics & Operations who’s not just a logistics expert, but a true team-oriented leader. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s logistics operations, and processes. This role involves leading a comprehensive Operational logistics function that includes inbound/outbound transportation, warehousing, and distribution while driving innovation and efficiency to meet the company’s growth objectives. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in optimizing the supply chain, reducing costs, and enhancing the customer experience by ensuring timely and efficient delivery of products.

As we continue to evolve, this leader will prioritize AI implementation, data transparency, and efficiency in every process. You will be the critical force behind the integration of automation tools, helping BARK stay ahead of the curve while making the experience more seamless for our dogs and their humans.

KEY DUTIES

• Develop and execute a comprehensive logistics strategy that aligns with BARK’s growth ambitions, with a specific focus on AI-driven efficiency improvements.
• Establish and track performance metrics to measure success and drive continuous improvement, ensuring we transition smoothly.

• Oversee end-to-end logistics operations, from inbound shipping to last-mile delivery, ensuring a seamless flow of goods globally.
• Build innovative warehousing and distribution strategies to improve space and labor utilization, and maximize the use of AI-powered solutions.

• Spearhead cost-saving initiatives with a specific goal of achieving a 10% reduction in spend while maintaining high standards of service and quality.

• Drive the adoption of logistics technology, including automation, AI, and advanced forecasting tools, transforming our legacy systems and preparing us for the future.
• Lead the effort to potentially commercialize logistics innovations for external clients, further positioning BARK as a leader in supply chain technology.
• Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) Oversight: Manage relationships with LLPs to ensure seamless coordination of inbound and outbound logistics activities. Ensure LLPs are aligned with company goals and performance expectations.

Lead with empathy, support, and a team-first mindset. Build a culture of mutual respect and trust, providing mentorship and ensuring the team feels valued and heard.

• Mentor and build a high-performing logistics team, fostering collaboration across key functions such as procurement, fulfillment, and customer service.

• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international regulations related to logistics, trade, and transportation. Proactively manage risks related to logistics operations, including supply chain disruptions and environmental factors.

EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience with logistics operational technology, including automation, AI, and supply chain software (WMS, TMS, ERP systems).
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• 5+ years’ experience leading end-to-end logistics operations with a mindset to continually improve processes
• 5+ years’ experience working with external vendor/logistics providers at a senior level.
• Deep experience implementing AI and automation tools into logistics operations, with a history of transforming legacy systems.
• Proven track record of delivering performance objectives and cost savings, particularly in decentralized organizations and with external partners..
• Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple business lines.
• Proven leadership skills and a track record of team building.
• You thrive in fast-paced, complex environments, and possess the ability to manage multiple, cross-functional projects.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven track record in managing large-scale logistics and supply chain operations, including international logistics.
• Experience with logistics technology, including automation, AI, and supply chain software (WMS, TMS, ERP systems).
• Strong negotiation skills with a focus on driving cost reductions and operational efficiencies.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Knowledge of global trade regulations, import/export procedures, and compliance.
• Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Results-oriented with a focus on efficiency and cost control
• Ability to navigate complex, fast-paced environments

This position is a full-time, salaried position. This role is remote, however, the successful candidate will be required to travel to our fulfillment operations. We estimate travel to be 25-50% as operational performance is fully implemented with our 3P partners.  We offer health insurance for both you and your pup, 401k, and a dog to pet anytime you wish. 

PAY TRANSPARENCY 

• The base salary range for this position is $180K-$250K
• This position is eligible for equity 
• This position is eligible for an annual bonus 

**This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills and expertise.
