About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Head of Internal Communications to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for building and executing OpenLoop’s internal communication strategy to keep our growing, distributed workforce informed, connected, and inspired. You’ll craft clear, consistent messaging that reflects our mission and values while ensuring alignment across teams and leadership.

As an individual contributor, you’ll partner closely with executive leadership, department heads, and the People team to deliver engaging communication plans that strengthen transparency, promote culture, and drive organizational clarity as we scale.

 

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute OpenLoop’s internal communication strategy, ensuring clear and timely messaging across all levels of the organization.
  • Create, edit, and distribute internal communications, including announcements, newsletters, leadership updates, and employee engagement campaigns.
  • Partner with the executive team to draft messaging around company strategy, goals, milestones, and key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the People and Marketing teams to align internal communications with culture, brand voice, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Manage internal communication channels (e.g., Slack, intranet, email, town halls) and identify opportunities to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
  • Track communication effectiveness and employee sentiment to continuously improve messaging and delivery methods.
  • Support leadership with presentation materials and talking points for company-wide meetings and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or employee engagement—preferably within a scaling or fast-paced organization.
  • Proven experience building and scaling internal corporate communications programs within a high-growth company.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, engaging messages.
  • Experience developing communication plans that support organizational change and growth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, creative, and proactive with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable operating as both a strategic communicator and hands-on content creator in a high-growth, mission-driven environment.
