Job Summary

Barings is seeking a professional to lead our Insurance Solutions efforts in North America. This individual will have deep expertise on the specific needs of insurance clients under NAIC and ideally BMA and OSFI needs. The individual will help Barings’ deliver investment knowledge and products to insurance clients acting as a key bridge between Barings’ Client Group and Investment Desks including our Insurance Portfolio Management team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver complete & relevant solutions to insurance clients through mastery of the firm’s capabilities, products and services.
  • Champion institutional insurance client coverage by collaborating with client service and portfolio management functions.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Analytics team and other investment teams to provide clients with optimized portfolios of assets.
  • Identify and discuss regulatory / reporting (e.g., RBC, NAIC ratings, etc.) and other insurance industry issues with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Barings Insurance Center of Excellence to build and maintain insurance specific competencies across the firm.
  • Produce thought leadership by developing materials for industry presentations, white papers and client meetings.
  • Extend existing infrastructure of analytical / quantitative capabilities to support business development efforts with insurance clients.
  • Develop relationships with regulators & relevant 3rd parties.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of insurance asset management or actuarial experience at an insurance company, insurance consulting firm, asset manager or investment bank.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field.
  • Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced analytical concepts and regulatory / reporting rules to various audiences.
  • Experience coordinating with numerous investment professionals in a complex, global environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills when working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding interpersonal characteristics, reputation and team orientation.
  • Ability to support the team in building and enhancing existing portfolio analytics and tools.
  • Connections with the insurance industry and an understanding of the needs and demands of insurance clients.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
