Head of Global Tax
The Head of Global Tax will serve as the strategic leader of Blackbaud’s global tax function, responsible for shaping and executing the company’s tax strategy in alignment with its broader business objectives. This executive will oversee all aspects of global tax operations, including income tax accounting, compliance, planning, transfer pricing, M&A, and audit management. The Head of Global Tax will play a critical role in managing tax risk, optimizing the company’s global tax position, and supporting long term value creation.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Lead the global tax function with full accountability for tax strategy, operations, and compliance across all jurisdictions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on tax implications of strategic initiatives, business operations, and corporate transactions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Treasury, HR, and other functions to align tax strategy with business goals, as well as clear and timely communication of status, potential concerns and tax impacts of decisions.
• Represent the company in discussions with external auditors, tax authorities, and policy makers.
• Develop tax planning strategies, including reducing valuation allowances, reducing cash tax percentages and interactions with our global subsidiaries and operations.
Tax Provision & Financial Reporting
• Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP, SEC, and ASC 740.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-related financial disclosures, including footnotes and MD&A for SEC filings.
• Manage valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and tax impacts of equity compensation and business combinations.
• Remain current in changing regulatory environment to ensure appropriate accounting for tax within financial statements.
• Maintain robust SOX 404 controls and lead continuous improvement initiatives in tax accounting processes and systems.
Tax Compliance & Planning
• Direct global tax compliance, including U.S. federal, state, and international filings, extensions, and estimated payments.
• Lead the development and execution of global tax planning strategies, including repatriation, foreign tax credit optimization, and entity structuring.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the company’s tax position.
• Partner with local finance teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in local tax filings and elections, as well as appropriate statutory account filings and disclosures.
Audit Management & Risk Mitigation
• Lead the management of global tax audits and examinations, including strategy, documentation, and resolution.
• Ensure the company’s tax positions are well-documented and defensible under audit scrutiny.
• Maintain and enhance global tax policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Business Transactions
• Provide tax due diligence, structuring, and integration support for M&A and other strategic transactions.
• Evaluate the tax implications of proposed changes to the company’s operations, structure, or financing arrangements.
Team Leadership & Development
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global tax team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Set clear goals and performance expectations, and support career development across the team.
• Consciously consider and recommend the appropriate use of outside resources, including staff augmentation and consulting services.
What you’ll bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 15+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, including leadership of a global tax function in a multi-national public company.
• Deep expertise in U.S. and international tax laws, ASC 740 and all updated guidance including disclosure (ASU 2023-09), and tax compliance.
• Proven experience managing tax audits, M&A tax structuring, and cross-border tax planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax provision/compliance/research software.
Preferred:
• CPA certification.
• Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting.
• Experience with indirect taxes (sales/use tax, VAT, GST) and property taxes.

The starting base pay is $176,800.00 to $224,900.00. Blackbaud may pay more or less based on employee qualifications, market value, Company finances, and other operational considerations.Benefits Include:
