About the role

We’re looking for a full-time Head of Engineering to lead our global team of developers. You will be accountable for the performance of our engagement and workflow platform that supports tens of thousands of front office interactions with patients and providers each day. You will own our engineering strategy for precisely and reliably delivering AI-enabled service experiences to patients, caregivers, and practice staff. You will play an instrumental role in building an engineering culture and developer experience that promotes growth and excellence, while upholding our values to Act as One Team, Own the Outcome, Default to Open, Learn Through Feedback, and See the Whole Person.

What you'll do
  • Lead a global team developers to ready our conversational platform, workflow engines, and data foundation to support our rapidly growing customer footprint.
  • Champion the technical vision for vertical AI across the healthcare front office, serving as a key voice internally for how we leverage technology to better serve patients, and an ambassador externally of our engineering brand.
  • Serve as the principal technical collaborator with growth and operations (patient care) teams to advocate for the security, reliability, and scalability of all front office workflows supported by our platform.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing technical team of individual contributors, technical leads, and managers.
  • Drive continual improvement of our technical tooling and engineering practices for high velocity, high reliability software development, including AI-enabled development workflows.
  • Own technical controls within our enterprise compliance framework that software development life cycle.
  • Shape our engineering culture and model behaviors that drive ownership, collaboration, and continual growth.
What we're looking for
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading distributed engineering teams (20+ engineers)
  • Proven track record scaling engineering organizations through rapid growth (3x+ team expansion, including individual contributors and managers), strengthening engineering standards, while balancing tech debt and development velocity
  • Experience building production-grade platforms handling high transaction loads (e.g., hundreds of thousands of daily transactions, supporting AI/ML workloads)
  • Compelling perspective on building an engineering culture focused on growth, creativity, and excellence, with success recruiting, developing, and retaining top technical talent
  • Deep expertise in conversational user experiences or workflow automation platforms
  • Track record building production systems leveraging complex third-party integrations (healthcare systems/EHRs preferred)
  • Experience implementing enterprise-grade security controls and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2)
