We’re building AI powered Shopify for service businesses. We help service pros (e.g., roofers, landscapers, painters) acquire direct business, fast. Up and running within minutes using Gen AI, our digital storefront products help pros get discovered, trusted, and booked repeatedly.

Topline Pro is co-founded by Nick Ornitz (CEO) and Shannon Kay (COO) with an excellent team of 70+ with plans to expand more in 2025. We serve thousands of local service businesses and were named as one of the 2023 and 2024 top 50 Tech Companies building for SMBs.

About the Role

🏢 Location: Boston, MA

With this role, you’ll be the first member of our Data team, which provides the opportunity to take significant ownership in building a data-rigorous company that can meaningfully change the lives of home service pros.

We’re investing immediately in resourcing for this team and standing up a data and insights team. You’ll be able to build the Data team from the ground up and heavily shape our data stack.

You will have the opportunity to make a huge impact on a small yet growing team and culture.

This role will lead our Data team, reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer.

We empower teams to tackle challenging problems and highlight key opportunities for Topline Pro. However, we maintain high standards. We’re seeing a Head of Data who is dedicated to achieving the impactful outcomes we require.

⚡ What you'll do

  • Be the founding leader of the Data team at Topline Pro, defining the strategic roadmap and scaling the team over time

  • Use data to identify opportunities that drive revenue, reduce churn, and improve operational efficiency

  • Translate complex business needs into a clear, prioritized data strategy that empowers every team to make better decisions, faster

  • Partner cross-functionally with teams like Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to define core business metrics and KPIs

  • Build and maintain dashboards, models, and data pipelines that make our most important data visible and actionable

  • Get hands-on in the stack to develop data infrastructure, architecture, and tooling (in collaboration with Engineering)

  • Drive a culture of data fluency and self-service analytics across the organization

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to proactively identify high-impact analytical opportunities and develop solutions that scale

  • Own the governance of data quality, documentation, and reliability across systems (e.g., HubSpot, Stripe, internal platforms)

  • Hire, mentor, and lead a team of Data Analysts, including several immediate hires

🎯 What we're looking for

  • 6-8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data product management roles

  • Experience managing and scaling a data team, ideally at a growth-stage startup

  • Experience acting as a bridge between data and business, with a bias toward action and ownership

  • Demonstrated ability to define and drive a data roadmap aligned to business goals

  • Extremely organized and detail oriented and have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical toolkit: SQL and Python proficiency required; familiarity with dbt and BI tools like Looker, Retool, or Mode is a plus

  • Experience working with modern data stacks, including cloud data warehouses and visualization tools

  • Passion for solving problems; You’re always looking for better, more efficient ways of doing things

  • Bonus: Experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company (ideally serving SMB customers)
