About Counsel

Counsel Health is an AI-enabled, physician-supervised virtual care company on a mission to multiply the world’s clinical capacity. We believe in a future where every person has a perfect doctor in their pocket, always available, infinitely knowledgeable, and deeply personalized.

To achieve this, we’re building the first fully vertical, AI-enabled medical group from the ground up, redesigning the entire clinical stack with custom AI tools that make our in-house physicians faster and smarter without compromising security or patient safety.

Since our founding in 2023, Counsel has partnered with leading employers, health plans, health systems, and channel partners, serving 100K+ members and on track to reach 1M+ more over the next 12 months. We have raised over $35M from a16z, GV, and other top-tier investors, and are on pace to 5x revenue this year.

Our founding team includes senior physicians and technology leaders from Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, UCSF, the MIT Media Lab, and Mount Sinai. Our broader team, coming from Stripe, NVIDIA, and Google DeepMind, is growing quickly, and we’re looking for exceptional people to join us at this inflection point.

About the role

We’re looking for a Head of D2C Growth to build and lead the next chapter of Counsel Health’s consumer business. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare innovation, technology, and marketing. This is an opportunity to shape how millions of people experience AI-powered care. You’ll own the full D2C growth strategy, from defining performance metrics to executing campaigns across digital channels, optimizing funnels, and building a high-performing team around you.

As one of the early growth leaders at Counsel, you’ll have a direct impact on our trajectory and help define how we bring our AI-native medical group to patients everywhere. This is a rare chance to join a world-class team at a defining moment.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Develop and execute Counsel Health’s D2C growth strategy across paid and organic channels while defining and owning D2C growth targets and metrics

  • Start as a hands-on leader, while developing and scaling the team as needed

  • Own and refine multi-channel performance marketing (search, social, affiliates, etc.) with a focus on ROI and budget efficiency

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Clinical, Strategy and B2B Marketing to ensure consistency across brand and that D2C growth initiatives align with broader company goals

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to refine growth funnels, onboarding, and retention, ensuring a seamless and high-conversion member journey

  • Own the D2C strategy to expand LTV and accelerate sustainable growth

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of experience in growth or performance marketing

  • 5+ years leading D2C growth at a consumer tech or health-tech company

  • Track record of owning and scaling a D2C revenue engine across multiple channels with clear performance metrics

  • Experience building and managing cross-functional growth teams (performance marketing, lifecycle, analytics, and product growth)

  • Expertise leveraging analytics and growth metrics to guide strategic, ROI-driven decision-making

  • Comfort with the pace and ambiguity of an early stage startup

What we offer

  • Impact: Be at the forefront of AI-augmented care delivery, tackling some of the most ambitious challenges in healthcare.

  • Growth: Professional development and leadership opportunities within a rapidly expanding tech-enabled care delivery organization.

  • Exposure: Gain hands-on experience in scaling a fast-growing healthcare technology company and directly interface with executives at the world’s leading healthcare organizations.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary and equity options.

  • Benefits: Competitive healthcare, vision, and dental, snacks and free lunch at the office.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
