JOB DESCRIPTION
UL Solutions is a leading testing and certification body helping organizations around the world launch their products across a range of markets. Due to further expansion within our Global Market Access (GMA) Certification division, we now have an exciting opening for a Head of Certification Office located in our office in Arnhem, Netherlands.
The Head of Certification Office will independently support the operations and enhancements of our certification program schemes, whilst supporting the development of new capabilities and service paths. This is a vital role in developing , managing and tracking improvement plans that will enable opportunities to be organized, and communicated, whilst also supporting our strategic and operational goals.
This role is based in Arnhem, Netherlands on a hybrid basis and we expect this individual to be in the office 3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages and implements several complex projects for the certification office, collaborating with business unit stakeholder groups to ensure certification operations processes and systems are effectively and efficiently managed.
  • Provides leadership, insight, recommendations, and support to team members in support of the operation of certification programs.
  • Interfaces with business unit stakeholders to ensure that certification programs meet customer and internal stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Responsible for reporting metrics that monitor and demonstrate the success of certification office operations and improvement initiative - ensure projects and benefits are tracked, captured, and correctly reported.
  • Lead cross functional teams to continuously improve and drive quality and business into UL's services to internal and external customers.
  • Lead cross functional teams to analyze new opportunities coming from new EU acts and achieve the necessary credentials as per business needs.
  • Supports Program/Scheme owner in the operation and enhancements of certification schemes.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Deep knowledge of the TIC business and the industries in which the business functions.
  • Understanding of product certification scheme operations, requirements, and ability to connect those to business needs and customer preferences.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO/IEC 17065 and experience of managing certification programs/schemes. Knowledge and experience of ISO/IEC 17021 and ISO/IEC 17020 are a plus.
  • Experience of CPR (Construction Products Regulations). The following are also a plus: Marine Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment, Machinery, and/or RED
  • Natural influencing skills, confident and able to deliver the message.
  • Ability to network and build relationship with internal and external stakeholders and lead/facilitate collaboration toward a common goal.
  • Able to deal in the ambiguity and take decisions, support customer in understanding their problem and provide valid solutions based on their knowledge schemes and past experiences.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable for EU regulations and directives.
  • Excellent in communication, able to summarize requirements and describe difficult concepts in a clear way, network builder
