Own Pairs’ brand strategy, positioning, voice, visual identity, content, newsletters, reports, social channels, video production, sponsorships, retargeting, and SEO. Write and publish content, direct and edit founder and investor story shoots, structure content for AI answer engines and journalists, measure share of voice and inbound performance, and manage and develop VC Content Interns. This is a hands-on player-coach role reporting to the co-founders.

We are hiring a Head of Brand to own how Pairs shows up in the world. The brand, the content behind it, the video we put out, and the small team that makes it with you.

Pairs is where founders come to raise capital. We pair them with the right investors from a large, engaged global investor network, then our agents manage the relationships that turn into meetings. It is a two-sided platform, live with paying clients, profitable and self-funded, built by a small, senior, flat team that ships fast.

The role

You own the brand. What Pairs says, where it says it, how it looks, and the image a founder or investor meets before they ever talk to us. You set the strategy and you run it. Most weeks that means one or two high-value posts in the founders' voices and one or two from the company. You run the story shoots with the founders and investors we work with, from booking the guest through to the final cut, and you cut video yourself. There is a weekly newsletter that also lives on our site, a monthly one, and a quarterly report we want the category to quote. Paid comes later, once we turn it on, and you own the brief behind every campaign. You also get a team, VC Content Interns who live in this space, write daily, and grow into full-time seats under you. You report to the co-founders, strategize with them, and get real creative freedom.

This is a player-coach seat and both halves are real. People who stopped writing and editing when they got their first team will not enjoy this. Neither will someone who has never had anyone reporting to them, though we will hear the case.

All of it is aimed at one thing. When a founder or an investor asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google how raising capital works and who to raise with, we want Pairs quoted back, and we want what gets quoted to be good.

What you will own

  • Positioning, voice and look, held consistent everywhere from the site to the feed to the newsroom.

  • Weekly founder and company posts on LinkedIn and X, the newsletter on our site, the monthly one, and the quarterly report. You write them and you ship them.

  • Founder and investor story shoots, from booking and prep through shoot day to the edit, with you cutting.

  • Sponsorships and retargeting, planned and measured against inbound.

  • VC Content Interns you brief, edit and grow into full-time hires.

  • Content structured so AI answer engines and journalists quote us, with share of voice tracked and SEO fundamentals underneath.

You are a fit if you

  • Have built and run a brand end to end that we can open: a named brand where you set the voice, made the content, ran the channels, and know the before and after numbers from memory.

  • Still make it yourself. You write the posts, cut the video, direct the shoot. When we ask what you made versus what you briefed, the answer is specific.

  • Have managed makers: a small team, freelancers, or interns, and grown at least one of them into a bigger job.

  • Write at a high bar in a restrained register, and can point at published work longer than a caption.

  • Have run paid for a brand, sponsorships and retargeting included, or owned the brief and the results while someone else ran the hands.

  • Know how AI answer engines and journalists pick what to cite, and have shipped work with that reader in mind. SEO fundamentals are assumed.

  • Can take one piece that outperformed and explain exactly why, and one that flopped and what you changed.

  • Bonus: you already live in the founder and VC corner of the internet, a personal following among founders or investors, podcast or newsletter production, on-camera comfort.

What we offer

Fully remote and async. Your day overlaps with US Eastern time for a few hours, not full US hours, because that is when this audience is online. Meetings batch on Mondays and Thursdays, the rest is deep work. The best AI tooling, paid (Claude Code, Cursor, top models). Direct access to the co-founders, real creative freedom, a film library already on disk, a video team in place, and a team of interns to grow. The brand is yours to build and yours to run.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
