The Role
Square Financial Services, Inc ("SFS") is Block's bank. We opened in March 2021 and provide lending and FDIC insured deposits services to small businesses and consumers on a nationwide basis. The SFS Product team enables the bank with modern infrastructure and high-quality services, and is responsible for developing and executing on the Bank's strategic roadmap. We aim to become Block's bank in both name and practice, and focus on empowering the small businesses and consumers served by the Block ecosystem.
SFS is looking for a Head of Acquiring and Network Services to join our Product team and help SFS expand its capabilities to include acquiring Bank Identification Number (BIN) sponsorship, as well as other network payment opportunities. As the Head of Acquiring and Network Services at Square Financial Services, you will be responsible for building and leading our acquiring BIN sponsorship program. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across Block and SFS to ensure successful execution of our acquiring strategy while maintaining regulatory and card network compliance along with effective risk management. You will build and manage a high quality team to ensure strong and compliant oversight and compliance with the financial ecosystem. You will report to the Chief Product Officer.

You Will
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of Square Financial Services' acquiring BIN sponsorship program supporting both Square and Cash App business cases
- Recruit and lead a high performing team of Operations and Compliance Professionals, establishing the operating model, goals, KRIs and KPIs
- Oversee the development and maintenance of key policies and procedures related to acquiring operations
- Manage relationships with card networks, regulators, and internal stakeholders
- Lead a team responsible for settlement flows and fund management, technical systems, and oversight across merchant underwriting, risk management, regulatory and network compliance
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk assessment frameworks and monitoring programs
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and card network rules
- Oversee settlement operations and reconciliation procedures
- Partner with cross functional stakeholders (including product, legal, finance, and engineering) to define and maintain existing capabilities and execute new initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement in acquiring operations and risk management
You Have
- 12+ years of acquiring experience in a fast moving technology or financial services company and 5+ years leadership experience including building out and cultivating high performing teams in a scale environment
- Experience owning full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and driving strategic decisions to meet business targets.
- Deep understanding of card network rules, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Strong knowledge of merchant acquiring risk management and underwriting practices
- Experience managing relationships with card networks and regulatory bodies
- Track record of building and leading high-performing teams
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- Strong relationship building skills with executives and technical teams & the ability to develop consensus and drive stakeholders to a decision
- Strong ability to build & leverage cross functional and sometimes complex relationships internally and externally
- Extensive experience with commercial contracts and negotiations
