About AirGarage
AirGarage is on a mission to bring real estate online, starting with parking.
We replace broken parking machines, fragmented software, and manual, labor-intensive operations with a unified, data-rich operating system for parking real estate. We handle everything it takes to run and optimize a parking asset: payments, dynamic pricing, enforcement, license plate recognition, analytics, and more.
By building all of our technology in-house, we are able to deliver a magical experience for drivers while providing real-time visibility and revenue increases of 20-50% or more for real estate owners. That’s why national real‑estate leaders like Hines and Greystar, as well as technology companies like Meta, partner with AirGarage to optimize their parking facilities.
AirGarage uses datapoints like real-time occupancy, local events, weather, driver behavior, competitor pricing, and more to bring true intelligence to real estate owners’ assets for the first time.
We’re investing aggressively to make the physical world legible to a digital system: cameras, sensors, and software that generate a firehose of real-time data about the world around us. That data fuels models and algorithms that allow us to optimize performance at each property while giving owners the clarity and control they’ve never had before.
Before you can optimize an asset, you need to observe it. Before you can observe it, you need to bring it online.
We are starting with the $131 billion US parking real estate market because it is one of the most offline and mismanaged commercial real estate asset types. 26% of the land area in the median American urban core is dedicated to parking.
We are backed by top tier investors including Headline Growth, Andreessen Horowitz, Floodgate, Founders Fund, Abstract Ventures, and angel investors who have founded or worked at companies like Uber, Opendoor, Flexport, and more.

THE ROLE 👨💻
We're looking for a Senior Hardware Support Engineer to own the health and performance of our nationwide fleet of connected devices. You will be a key link between operations and the engineering team, working closely with our hardware ops team. While primarily remote, you’ll occasionally travel to deployment sites for quality assurance.
This is not just a support role; you will be expected to write and ship code alongside the team. You will debug issues using logs and metrics, tune devices in the field, build internal tools to streamline QA and fleet monitoring, and contribute to our backend software to help automate and improve QA- and calibration-related processes, escalating issues to our ops and hardware engineering teams as necessary.
Our stack:
- Hardware: Embedded SoMs, Debian, Yocto, Python, C++
- Observability: DataDog, Hex, SQL
- Database: Postgres, Snowflake
- Infra: AWS, GCP, RabbitMQ, Docker, Github Actions
- Backend: Python, Django, DRF
- Frontend: React, Svelte, SvelteKit, TypeScript, React Native + Expo
WHAT YOU WILL DO 🚀
- Serve as the primary internal support contact for hardware, working closely with Sales, Operations, and Engineering to ensure smooth deployments.
- Provide regular reports to Operations and Sales teams detailing per-site hardware performance trends, device uptime, and any chronic or systemic issues affecting service quality.
- Test and tune hardware appliances during or post-installation, including adjusting camera exposure settings, detection modes, and other parameters to ensure optimal on-site performance.
- Conduct periodic fleet-wide health assessments to detect performance degradation, systemic issues, or underperforming devices, and recommend firmware or deployment improvements.
- Minimize downtime and on-site intervention by resolving device incidents remotely through log analysis, metrics review, and remote debugging tools.
- Collaborate with the Hardware Operations team to relay field observations, improve install practices, and coordinate on-site resolutions when remote fixes are not possible.
- Escalate unresolved hardware or software issues to the appropriate engineering teams with detailed context, logs, and reproduction steps to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Act as a feedback loop between the field and product teams, surfacing recurring pain points or feature gaps observed through support and performance monitoring activities.
- Contribute to core backend software services as needed for device integration.
- Build internal tools and scripts to streamline setup, diagnostics, and ongoing monitoring of hardware in the field, enabling faster support and proactive maintenance.
- Author and maintain clear repair and troubleshooting instructions, incorporating feedback from field teams and device data to drive operational efficiency and improve support consistency.
WHAT YOU NEED 🧠
- 5+ years of professional experience as a support engineer.
- Demonstrated experience managing distributed Linux-based hardware appliances.
- Experience developing internal tools for device observability, alerting, updates, etc.
- Background in cellular (4G LTE, CAT 4, CAT 1bis, 5G RedCap), WiFi, WiFi HaLow, or other wireless connectivity.
- Familiarity with git flow and Github/Github Actions for version control and continuous integration.
- Willingness to travel to locations for troubleshooting (roughly 20% travel).
- Experience working closely with engineering and field operations teams in an agile environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.
