About the Role

Nexthop Systems Inc. is seeking a Hardware Compliance engineer to ensure the highest safety and EMC standards for our next-generation high-capacity networking systems for emerging AI infrastructures. In this role, you’ll combine technical expertise with innovative problem-solving to plan & execute all the regulatory certification of cutting-edge electro-mechanical designs that meet the demands of advanced data centers and telecom environments. 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop detailed Safety and EMI/EMC & Safety compliance qualification strategies to obtain required certification within budgets and schedules.
  • Debug, resolve and mitigate EMI/EMC & Safety issues ensuring compliance with standards by leading investigation, track using internal SW with adequate details.
  • Root cause, resolve and mitigate safety compliance issues by leading investigation, track using internal SW with adequate details.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (product management, SW & HW engineering etc.) to ensure all world-wide country certification and product compliance are obtained and maintained to meet the company’s product market objectives.
  • Partner with external labs, domestic & international agencies to schedule & execute required product certification testing in a timely manner.
  • Conduct rigorous product testing to industry standards for product EMC/EMI, safety & regulatory certification is a plus.
  • Review, and file compliance reports with regulatory agencies and maintain meticulous documentation of compliance activities.
  • Participate in manufacturing processes and quality audits to ensure any deviations are resolved and product compliance maintained.
  • Collaboration with manufacturing operations to maintain EMC and safety lab accreditation programs (A2LA, and ULDAP) is a plus.
  • Anticipate, recognize & evaluate product safety hazards eg physical harm, misuse of product, customer issues, & liability concerns.
  • Review, re-test / re-certify (if required) and approve product changes that meet all required product certifications throughout the product life cycle.
  • Stay ahead of industry changes and trends, assessing their impact on product regulations by research and ongoing education.
  • Support customer inquiries for evidentiary proof of product certifications and maintain a database for all product certifications.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.

What Experience You Bring

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of experience.

Technical Skills: 

  • Good understanding of and ability to configure and run networking equipment.
  • Hands on experience to perform EMC/EMI and safety testing
  • Direct experience with major international telecommunications regulations and requirements, methodology & strategies for obtaining world-wide certifications (BSMI, CCC, Anatel and other major ITRs) and in-country certification in a cost effective manner is a plus.
  • Python, SCPI and other automated data collection knowledge is a plus.
  • Understanding of requirements, deviations, compliance (EMC, Safety, Telcom, NEBS etc.) for IT, telecom or data center products is plus.

Hands-On Expertise:

  • Experience working on complex hardware design, especially for data center servers and networking hardware
  • Experience working on EMC and safety lab technical and quality management
  • Experience working on liquid cooling systems is a plus.
  • Running test using standalone diagnostic or traffic test using OS & traffic generator
  • Conducting electrical and environmental tests at external and internal labs.
  • Partnering with EMS and OEM/ODM providers is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and relationship skills.
  • Program management skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering results while managing technical risks and tradeoffs.
