The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and versatile IT/OT Systems Engineer to support and maintain both the infrastructure and application layers of our manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a technically adept professional who thrives at the intersection of Information Technology and Operational Technology—able to switch from troubleshooting server and network issues one day, to resolving MES or DeltaV system problems on the manufacturing floor the next. Able to work closely with Digital Core teams like cybersecurity and enterprise technologies, to manufacturing operators and plant management.
You will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of systems critical to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including the infrastructure (network, wi-fi, virtual servers, backups), and the underlying applications that run on them (Syncade, DeltaV, PI, BMS, Thin Manager, analytical instruments). You will be part of a global team supporting manufacturing plants and labs in multiple countries.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Collaborate with digital teams to develop an effective and efficient approach for seamlessly integrating IT/OT infrastructure and capabilities with world class research science
Work collaboratively with automation engineers, plant engineers, lab engineers, scientists, and operations teams to effectively support the design, deployment and retirement, of manufacturing and lab systems by defining and following an SLA with your stakeholders
Provide recommendations to the business on IT/OT solutions to meet requirements and objectives
Work to ensure that concerns regarding change management, security, technical infrastructure and systems integration are considered for all Manufacturing and Lab Systems projects
Support compliance and understand GxP processes. Understand IQ/OQ/PQ validation process for computer systems
Maintain and troubleshoot Windows servers, virtual machines (VMware), and network infrastructure
Support domain services (Active Directory, DNS/DHCP) and backup/recovery systems
Support manufacturing systems such Syncade, DeltaV, OSI PI, BMS, HMIs, Solo VPE, and various analytical instruments and label printers
Understand and assist in business continuity plans/disaster recovery for manufacturing and lab systems
Understand and assist in implementation of cybersecurity applications and troubleshoot issues
Understand and assist network topology design of manufacturing and lab systems
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, physical science or related field or relevant experience
6+ years of experience working with IT/OT infrastructure in manufacturing, lab systems, control systems and building management systems
Experience with IT/OT implementation with DCS, MES, BMS, PLC, OPC, HPLC, GC, LIMs, lab analyzers
Prior experience working for a Pharmaceutical company required
Experience working with virtual environment (VMware/Hyper-V) and/or cloud platform (AWS preferred)
Experience working with RDBMS (SQL Server or Oracle)
Experience working with application and web server (IIS)
Experience working with backup/recovery systems (Acronis, Veeam, N2WS, etc.)
Experience working with Cybersecurity endpoint protection applications (Crowdstrike, Symantec, McAfee, Carbon Black, etc.)
Experience working with infrastructure tools (Dynatrace, Pager Duty, Splunk)
Understanding of network routing, switching and firewall concepts
