About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on three continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer, you'll leverage your expertise in aircraft and system dynamics, simulation, estimation and control theory, and autonomy to craft safety-critical solutions to enable highly-reliable operations of self-flying aircraft in diverse operating environments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Have ownership and cognisance of GNC systems throughout the complete development lifecycle, from initial idea to system deployment in business operations.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high level performance goals are met and business objectives are achieved.
  • Perform detailed GNC analyses of system designs, analyze research and development test data, communicate these results to the Wing team.
  • Support of development and execution of GNC system integration and test efforts, including flight test.

What You’ll Need:

  • M.S in Controls Engineering (or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-6+ years of experience in GNC technology and product development, deployment and transition into full rate production.
  • Technical depth in at least one of the following areas: aircraft dynamics and control, multi-modal sensor fusion, INS/GPS navigation system development, UAV path planning algorithms, and/or GNC simulation and data analysis.
  • Technical knowledge of fault-tolerance in flight control systems, navigation systems, and contingency management
  • Experience with Matlab, C++, and/or Python
  • Familiarity with simulation methods, particularly medium to large scale monte carlo testing
  • Familiarity with real-time embedded platforms
  • Familiarity with aircraft dynamics, stability and control fundamentals
