The Role:

This internship is offered through Workshop Ventures, a venture studio that builds and invests in transformative companies. As an intern, you’ll be fully embedded at WorkHero, one of Workshop's portfolio companies. You’ll work directly with the founding team at WorkHero to identify and execute high-leverage projects across the go-to-market and service delivery functions. You’ll shape systems and processes that scale with us. You will also gain exposure to Workshop’s broader network of entrepreneurs, advisors, and operators. This is a paid position

WorkHero is building the AI-powered back office for the skilled trades.

Tens of thousands of small HVAC businesses across the U.S. are overwhelmed by administrative work. WorkHero pairs experienced office managers with custom-built AI tools to reduce administrative burden and help owners grow thriving businesses.

Why it matters:

  • Economic impact: We are helping local HVAC owners stay independent—growing their businesses and building meaningful wealth for themselves and their families.

  • Climate impact: We are accelerating climate goals by expanding the capacity of small HVAC companies who are responsible for installing the millions of heat pumps our planet needs.

  • Innovation impact: We are proving that you can blend human expertise and AI to create exciting roles for our employees and exceptional results for customers.

WorkHero is an early-stage company with exciting traction and strong support from angel investors and Workshop Ventures. Our advisors include Chad Laurans (founder of SimpliSafe, the $1B+ home security company) and Gerald Chertavian (founder of Year Up, a $200M per year non-profit).

What You’ll Do: (tailored based on interest and business needs)

  • Build and test automations using Zapier, Notion, and Slack

  • Create internal playbooks for smoother onboarding and team alignment

Service Operations

  • Optimize our Notion-based CRM and build real-time reporting dashboards

  • Document workflows between internal tools (Slack, Notion, agent portal)

  • Analyze service team metrics and propose actionable improvements

What You’ll Learn

  • How to build internal systems that blend human judgment and AI automation

  • How a lean team prioritizes and delivers high-impact work

  • How to navigate startup ambiguity, and still deliver measurable results

Who You Are

  • Fluent in tools like Notion, Hubspot, Zapier, Google Sheets, and Slack

  • Background in early-stage startup ops, consulting, or tech PM roles

  • Experience with CRM, RevOps, or service workflows a plus

  • Familiarity with HVAC, home services, or local SMBs is a bonus—but not required

Why Join WorkHero

  • Work closely with a mission-driven team that blends AI and human service

  • Get direct exposure to startup operations, product thinking, and leadership

  • Help shape critical systems during a pivotal growth phase

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
